Tilac is also a long time SC favorite of many. One nice thing about it is that it is pretty large, with a couple of good sized stages. There are a large number of girls (and a number of large girls) covering the full spectrum of quality.
I like large bars like this that are not very crowded because it gives me the chance to walk around a bit to see what interests me and sit close to the action if I want to watch and then move farther away when I want company. It freaks out the staff a litle bit when I walk around with my beer (and cup), but that's part of the fun too. 
I'll let you guys know my secret spot, if you promise to yield it when I show up. It's the little table to the right of the stage on the left, right by the stairs. You can check out both stages which is nice, but best of all you can accost the girls getting on and off the stage quite easily. The girls store various articles of clothing and other things down there, so you have plenty of time to make your move. One of my complaints about gogos is how maddeningly difficult it is to get eye contact (and then physical contact) with a particular cutie; this solves that problem nicely.

Did I forget to tell you that I'm a weirdo?
Three things:
First, I have a hangup that I think girls in strip clubs and gogo bars are supposed to come up to me! I don't want to go chasing after them, that's part of the deal. Depending on my mood (and the relative hotness of the dancer), I'm flexible with this.
Second, I don't like the idea of pointing at a girl and saying "fetch!" Not that I haven't done that, but I try to resist it. I like to let them know I'm interested in some way and let them decide if they want to come over. This part of the flirting process is greatly entertaining for me. Sometimes I resort to physically walking up to a girl and making trivial physical contact to get her attention (on the way back from the head or something). Then it's up to her to come over to me. This somehow pleases me to know that she doesn't think I'm a hideous beast and she has no choice but to sit with me.
Third, my eyes (and apparently my finger pointing ability) are not very good and I have a hard time with the proxy method. "Get me #89!" "There is no #89, sir." "Uh, #39?" "Nope." "Okay, that one with the long black hair and nice tits." "That one?" "No, no, you call those nice tits?" Now imagine that conversation using my weak Thai and invariably I end up with the guy who cleans the bathrooms sitting with me.
I know it sounds f_cked up, but we all have our little games.

Sure I understand where you are coming from.
But when I go in Tilac, which is not so often nowadays, I usually sit far left as you enter. I chat to one of the older waitresses. I know she is watching my eyes and if she spots that I am interested in a girl she gives me the lowdown i.e speaks English, good girl, bad girl etc.
She has always been right so if I can't make contact myself then I will buy her a drink and also the waitress. Assuming she is dancing then the waitress slips a note and she apppears when her dance session finishes.
If no chemistry I say goodbye POLITELY

I had a couple of interesting experiences in this bar, but they're probably more the stuff of historical field reports. ÝOne of the things that initially interested me here was the number of blonde TGs on my first trip. Ý I ended up here after some women friends I was with ran into a bunch of guys they knew. ÝAs it turns out they were a pretty wild and fun lot and we eventually ended up in Tilac Bar. ÝOne of the group barfined a nice looking 19 year old with semi-blonde hair. ÝWe drank a lot and all ended up in disco later (I forget which one, which says a lot about the night, maybe Nana). Ý
I ended up with a very pretty girl who I knew as a waitress but is also a bit of an upscale freelancer. ÝSome of the best sex I've ever had in Thailand. ÝA residual benefit of it was that she told her friends that I was good in bed and after that a lot of them were hitting on me.
But I digress. ÝAnyway I later went in without the crowd and befriended the blonde and another blonde friend of hers. ÝShe took me home one night to her apartment, which was sort of a first for me. ÝIt was actually a decent place and she even had football posters on the walls. ÝUnfortunately it was about 8 am by the time we got there, as we'd been out to a secret late night karaoke on Soi Cowboy, and we were both more keen to sleep than to shag. ÝShe's a nice girl and very fun, but not in the end my type sexually. ÝProbably a bit too young.

FWIW I am a weirdo in almost precisely the same way as Chompoo (and a weirdo in other ways which are uniquely mine.)
In almost 20 years I have NEVER said, "Bring me that one." or even called a girl over (unless I knew her). I agree that it's silly but I do exactly the same thing: try to get eye contact or even accidental physical contact (no, I don't mean my hand accidentally slipping into her g-string.)
I don't expect true love or even lust (though I try for that) but at least a bit of rapport and to the extent possible, I try to ensure that I only wind up with girls who like me at least a bit and that there has been no coercion involved whatsoever.

Another approach to getting a girl is this. Bribe the mammasan first, and let her do the sale on your behalf.
Or a simpler one is get someone to "send" her a drink first, and in most cases they will come on their own to talk to you.
I remember this from my friend, regarding catching cats:
The trick in trying to catch a pussy, is to let it walk over to you. The moment you get up, the game is over.
