One day he will go flying out a window and his Embassy will make report about another sad case of some poor drug addict committing suicide in Thailand  ...

update: just showed up at relatives apartment in bkk. came inside got on her knees like they do at the temple for a monk and asked for forgiveness.
Just stayed in that position for over an hour at the feet of the older relatives. quite a sight.
this is a very traditional isaan family and there is a system we dont see very often of the order of things and how they all relate to each other and their position in the family.
now mom in town and they will go to the village tomorrow... I guess the 'thai' way of rehab.
my thanks to everyone who tried to help. a very tough time for the family. thanks again !!!!!!!

they did every thing as per tradition, gal gets old enough to trade her wares (actually if I remember, she wasn't of age when she started working) and they send her into the big city to make money for the "traditional isaan family"
I'd still like to know how long before they send her back to work
and yes, the "going home to mum" thing is the way most Thais deal with a failure
I am sorry about this young gal's plight, but the parents are nearly as responsible as mr. falahng ya ba, IMHO

that's the least... the 'nearly' part.. drugs are so present in the prostitution scene, farang john or BG colleagues, it was only a matter of short times before she gets acquainted to drugs.
That Daffy might wish good luck to the pimping family as if they were victims... just reminds us that some ducks should stick to say ' Couin Couin!'

In a former working life I had a job that brought me into regular contact with some of the "working girls" in Melbourne's main red light area, St Kilda.
Probably the one real difference I have noticed between "working girls" in my part of farangland and those in BKK is that mentioned above. In the west it is absence of family support that often leads a girl to end up working as a prostitute - whereas in Thailand it seems unlikely that some girls could, let alone would, end up working as a prostitute without the family's direct support.
As to similarities, IMHO widespread drug use, low self-esteem, excessive use of alcohol, denial of long term involvement in the scene, dead-beat hangers-on and elasticity with the truth are common to both farang and asian camps. Enjoy.
