I agree if you are talking about the theatrical release, the directors cut doesn't work in my oppinion.

Aerodude- Blade Runner is ok, but nuttin holds a candle to Starship Troopers or Mars Attacks. Well maybe Reanimator but that's almost horror.

starsh_t poopers, did you see the sequel that went straight to video? I did find Mars Attacks campy in a B movie way! When do you get to cum back in LOS with the spiders?

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Arsoles flat fish? Just some of the many questions left unanswered by this great movie! IMHO too many folk read too much into the movie and so maybe miss the joy it is to watch it time after time. Sit back, popcorn and Pepsi at the ready and off to the shoulder of Orion. Wake up time to die.

Brocher..I think your right. B.R. sets are supposed to give you as much a 'physical' feel for the future, as the dialogue gives you a cerebal sense of the future. Can't have one without the other since we live in the present and have to be transported to that future time where hell is an everyday experience. For me I like the theatrical cut rather than the directors cut, but I think that is only because I only saw the directors cut on earthbound TV, rather than the womb of the movie theater.

Sadly, if you look at some of the other films these scientists consider as 'best', it sure makes me question their taste :- ( Still, I would agree about BR, because it works on many levels: visually, it's impecable, if not Ridley Scott's best work; as entertainment, it's a great popcorn and enjoy flick; Philosophically, just like the book/story, it raises timeless questions about the nature of man. Now, while Starship Troopers, at first glance, would appear to be 'B' movie schlock, I can see why you find it a good film. I enjoyed it myself, simply because Verheoven stayed true to the exact undercurrent of fascist illustration that Heinlein wanted to show as well - it's far more than a 'kick bug ass' movie, but you have to pay close attention, specifically to all the multim-media flashes. Starship Troopers and Battlefield Earth are two of the greatest scifi books ever (IMHO). ST is an OK movie but BE is possibly the worst movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!
