Would it do any difference if an old pilot mentioned that the correct term on flight deck is: "gear up- check". When on that subject I personally MUCH more enjoy when the the point on checklist has come to: "Gear down - all green - check"! Means that you are approx on OM (outer marker) and just minutes from touchdown! I just enjoy the final minutes since I always myself thought landings were the most fun - and the challenge of making it a "smoooooth" one!

14 days to "Gear down - all green - check"! I've lost track of how many times I have done this but for me it never gets old. I'm thinking of "retiring" in the next year or so and will not have an excuse to get to LOS. That is my biggest retirement worry. I'm in my early 50's and in good health and shape so while the money has been good and I don't mind giving up the daily bullshit, I am concerned about my ability not to be in LOS every 6-8 weeks. My wife ain't gonna buy no bullshit about needing to go there after the job is done. Maybe I need to become a part time consultant......

trust me.. and I am talking from similar experience: if you dont do what your mind tells you - and you have the ability (money etc) to do it - your life will be miserable if you denie it. It might be a tough decision - but giving up a desire and living a "controlled lie" is devastating. You will end up thinking of it every day and night - and it is not healthy. I can not say what anyone should do with their lives - or tell wife. But if you want to do something else instead of being with the woman you once married - is it then the "real" you?! Or worth considering a change? A couple of weeks of hell (either telling wife you need time of your own or divorce) - or pure boredom until "gravetime"? I dont know the answer. But if one have the capability to live the life you wish - why not go for it?
