paddyc01 - Nope, as Baquawn said, only 50. Count the stars on the flag. Although Puerto Rico occasionally makes noises about wanting to be the 51st.
Mel - Yes, I know that Canberra is part of the ACT (just like Washington D.C. is in the District of Columbia and not part of any state). That's why I said I have been to all Australian states. Really enjoyed the country and the people. Great Southern Touring Route (including Pinacles and 12 Apostles) and Ayres Rock (Uluru) were highlights. So were the rain forests North of Cairns and, of course, the GBR. One of the cleanest cities I have seen anywhere was Perth. Tasmanian Devils were kind of a let-down, but I was in Tasmania and so had to see them anyway. One of the hottest (can't remember the temp) was Darwin.
Oh, and the people were pretty nice, too. 55555 I take it, from your comments, that you are a Sydneysider?
In June I'm off to Alaska for 3 weeks of driving around. So, Thailand will have to wait for July.
