Chinese New Years pary was great - good atmosphere and the food was "haochi"!
Only problem was - the two best looking Chinese women were my colleagues wives and I have not sunk that far - yet!
So -- better get to BKK fast.........................

After I cut and pasted the disseratation I had a CNY party with Mai Lin, Vivian Chu, and Chung Chun.

FYI, on Monday Feb.14 there will be a large Thai party at The Stone in Hollywood. Perhaps no "slutty and nasty Red Chinese and Taiwanese girls", "Asian sluts" or "Khmer Cholas", but plenty of nice Thai girls.
And when that party dies down around 2am try Panang/Thai Angels where the party is sure to go on well into the morning. They shut the doors around 2:30am ay which point smoking and serving (in teapots) is sure to go on 4am++.
Panang/Thai Angels (formerly at Sunset&Bronson) is located at Sunset and Rosemont in Silverlake. Dj's, live band, dancing karaoke.... eye candy not as great as what's sure to be on hand at Stone but the party will be going on later to be sure.

Thanks for the tip neenah2000/Steve (and thanks for posting on this thread). I'll have to check out Panang another evening -- I have a heavy schedule in the office on the 15th!
BTW, speaking of Chinese NY meals, I had loads of good seafood at a new place in Monterey Park called New Concept Restaurant. Good lobster, scallops, whole steamed fish, shrimp, clams and abalone, as well as peking duck and squab. Worth checking out.

Perhaps help is on the way. A new bar is 30-60 days from making it's debut in the mini-mall where Palms Thai and Ruen Pair are located. Working title: RCA.
??? Palms is moving to Bronson and Hollywood in March and there are no plans as of yet for what exactly will occupy their space. Prolly another restaurant. As for locations for a bar in that mini mall??
The Laundromat has been closed for sometime. Although that would be a good space, nothing has gone on in there (construction or otherwise) for a few months.
BKT music and book store, Ban Kanom Thai, Ganda, Ruen Pair, Bolt Gallery and the now defunct Thai Massage are all occupied and presumably spoken for..
I for one would welcome a new bar alternative to Stone but parking in this minimall is akin to a migraine headache Thu. thru Sat. nights so they'd have to sort out something reasonable.
And Stone bar's existing valet-parking option is most unreasonable.As I understand it, one of the main reasons for Palms moving from that mini-mall has to do with parking.

It was supposed to be the laundromat. It looks like some rehab work had begun, but as you say no work has been done lately. Clearly 30-60 days will not be the case, if ever.
Edit: It's a shame the Stone doesn't draw better. I like the look of the place, the staff is friendly and it has a real bar that you can pull up a few barstools at. If I were looking to open a restaurant/bar, I would look more closely at some of the minimalls to the east that have sizable empty parking lots at night.
