Well, now that the matter of cheap charlies at round tables has been raised....here goes nothing....field report on my first round table night...
I slipped into Toxic on roundtable night a few weeks back - Dec 22 - at about 8.30pm. Maybe it was me or maybe I just picked a bad night. The girls were friendly enough and I dropped a few hundred on my drinks and LD's and tips but by 10pm I couldn't find anyone other than RTB who had heard of BTF and was about to leave - yeah great researcher I am - didn't even know about the free drinks hour...RTB rang the bell as I paid my tab.
There were about 8 or 9 guys who turned up between 5 and 15 mins before RTB rang the bell at 10pm and I could be wrong but I don't think any bought a drink, they just talked to each other and waited for what they knew was coming at 10pm - I've never posted this previously as I had no desire to say anything negative about Town Lodge, Toxic or RTB but geezus wept.. what a pack of obvious blood suckers. I walked out later remembering the thread that asked is "Thailand for losers?".
RTB you struck me as a gentleman and worthy of far better treatment from "friends" than that group appeared to give you...as I said before I hope it was me or just a rare bad night...till next time then...Enjoy.

those would be the guys we call balloon chasers
they go around and hit the locations that have free drinks or free food
the balloon chasing is because shops will put up balloons out front when they are having a birthday feed or whatever freebie that's on

Ballon chasers? Good name and apt description for these guys.
To me it seemed so overt and an obvious abuse of someone elses good graces...yeah I know RTB is a businessman and its probably all factored into the equation...but enough is too much sometimes.... guess that's why RTB can run a bar and I can't....I'd have been grabbing shirt collars and pants seats and piling cheap charlies up in the Soi by 10 oh 5....more power to him. As I said, hope it was a one off or even that I got it all wrong.

I was there on the 22 and the 29. What you might have not noticed is that many of these guys who drink free will buy a round or 2 for all the girls.

Perhaps rather than "out" the balloon chasers an aditional extra could be added for those that turn up a little earlier???? Maybe some Aussie ( me ) can throw a bottle of JW Black open on the bar at 9pm on Friday 19th Jan ( with RTB's permision) ???
I'll be the guy with the moustache eating sushi, sipping champagne with and trying my best to chat up Jen,,,LOL.

I never been to a FR at Toxic.
But I now know I would have to plan carefully to not be id'ed a Cheap Charlie. I will have to arrive before "free-hour" and order a bottle of something.
Or, I do as I always do: Order what I want, anytime! If it's free, great!
