Who is they ? the propaganda machine ?
The word dope actually says more about certain people than the actual herb itself, similar types often consume large amounts of alcohol as well and display the same lack of decorum.
After 30 yrs experience alongside alcohol im well aware which one is safer to use. But ok when you wake up with that hangover or spend the whole evening talking garbage just keep telling yourself you had a good time and your not addicted.
As for smoking it have not done that in years its bad for my health.

Damn it Blonk, there you go again with shity information... When Coca Cola put cocaine in their drink in the late 1800's, it contained cocaine. Also, some stores would add cocaine to the drink at the request of the customer. Southerners at that time would order a drink with 'dope'.... read up on it homeboy....

In fact, the first hidden camera was discovered in the early 1900's. It was in a brothel. There was a customer named Sir Blonkenstein who was with a hooker and discovered a camera hidden in the vent of a a run down brothel in New Orleans.

Actually the coca in Coca-Cola refers to the coca leaf which was used as a flavoring and to protect patent rights to the catchy name 'Coca-Cola'
The truth is that in 1902 a Coca-Cola had less than 1/400 of a grain of unrefined cocaine extract in an ounce of the syrup and by 1929 it was totally removed:

As for the term 'Dope' it most likely came from the folks who sniffed paint to get high from the acetone it contained.... ya see, in manufacturing the sealants used on aircraft, pipes, dowels, etc. have the technical name 'Dope' and also contained acitone...
So as it goes, the Coke argument is another Urban Legand...

CS, I agree with you about sealants and so one being calle ddope, as I worked in the industry in my early years... the reason I got the term dope in reference to coca cola was I was watching the Hirtory channel and they were doing a special on the U.S. FDA and were with the FDA historians talking about earlier uses of drugs and they did a segment on cocaine.
That is where I fould out about the uses of cocaine in the early days....
