I was just outlining my time in the LOS and figured I might was well tell it here too :

I found the LOS when I was still relatively young.

After my first visit I was dead set on trying to make a living there and moved at my first chance.

Started with a job making only $500/month and started to hang around where the other expats were and got the skinny on where to get a real job.
I was hemorrhaging savings money at the time to hang out in the expat community. Beer is one thing that seems to be the same price in LOS as it is at home.

Nailed down a good job which lasted 3-1/2 years and I was loving life.

It was a roller coaster ride after that, with some high highs and some not so low lows.

A little work in the PI on one job, one trip to the middle East, another to India, but still based in Thailand. One year in Chiang Mai, one in Bangkok and Nonthaburi, and a whole lot of time in the Eastern Seaboard. During that time I went back to work for the same employer 3 times, 3 different employers and almost entirely different industries. At least I did well enough the first time around that they wanted me back. One was ten years after the first time, and they doubled my pay from the first time, talk about a HIGH point. That was right about the time that the Global Economy hit the shitter, so when I was out of that job there wasn't much.

Then finally the roller coaster seemed to stay in the low spots more often than it got high so I finally stepped out and decided to get a job back home. I did go back to one of my previous employers for a short stint, but like l suspected they screwed me, so I bailed, cut my losses and got a ticket out.

Little did I know, pay back home wasn't up to the expat pay I used to get in the LOS, but at least I've got free health care and don't need to make visa runs or get a work permit.

I recently had an offer to go back to the LOS for work, but in a position I feel might not last, so for now I remain here in Falahngland.
My last visit to Pattaya in May was kind of surreal. It felt like I was going to go get in my truck after it was over and drive back to my apartment for the night, but that obviously is NOT how it ended.
