Mr Alan
I don't know the answer to your question, but if you have any luggage, I would advise against it. A taxi will cost about 250 baht (including tolls, airport departure fee, and tip). Make sure you go outside to the taxi stand where a women will be inside a small booth and ask you where you are going.

You will have to get past the touts trying to get you into a "taxi" (limo) for a cost of $600 baht or more. Just ignore them.

Mr Alan
If this is your first time in BKK, take a cab to Sukhimvit and then try out the public transportation from there. People do ride the buses, BTS skytrain, and now the subway, but not many take the train.

I have to agree with Mr Alan.

When you arrive, go up one floor to Departures though, this way you'll get a cheaper taxi.

Another option is to take the airport bus to Sukkhumvit (100 baht).
Tell the driver where you want to get off, and remind him every now and then.
It stops just a short walk from Nana Hotel.
You may have to wait 15 mins for your bus to leave though.

I hate waiting around though. Makes sense to get that taxi..........sit there and know you'll be in your hotel in about 25 mins.

wondering why the MRT doesn't go to the airport..

I guess they're gonna wait until the new airport is completed.

Whoa!

Airport bus? Never heard of this, it needs a field report so I can decide on whehter or not to take it.

I read about the departure floor trick on a website one time. I can't remember the name though. It's a good move, you may have to wait EDIT: upstairs a little but you'd wait longer in the line and pay an extra 50 baht. It helps the driver too. Now he doesn't have to wait either. A friend and I walked right past a cop one time, with suitcases across the street to where the cab was on the friggin' ramp for Christ's sake...no problems. Sounds foolish, but you should have seen the line for cabs downstairs!

I'm sure this has been covered on some other thread but the link below gives you the routes. It's a great service so long as you don't mind hanging around for up to 15 mins or so. Never been crowded when I've used it and for TB100 it's cheap although if there's a few of you together then take a taxi as that will work out even cheaper per person. Walk outside arrivals and follow the signs.
