I got a Cathy Pacfic cybe fare from 545 from New York to BKK round trip. Including tax its 604, the best deal I have got in year. Leaving Oct 17 return Nov 12th.
Problem with the cyber fare is that u don't get miles with them. Doesn't matter though if u are not a member of Oneworld FF program or you don't want to spend the extra dough. Still a good deal if u don't care about miles.
You could have bought the same tkt from a consolidator for roughly $750 and received 20k status miles and if u are an AA frequent flyer an additional 20k in bonus miles if u have Platinum or ExPlat status. So for a total of 40k that is enough miles for a RT coach tkt from anywhere in the US to the Carribean, Europe or South America.
The status miles alone are worth it so that that you can get the perks of lounge access, upgrades, elite check-in, priority boarding, baggage handling and wait listing.
Sometimes it is worth it to spend the extra dough to get the miles and status.

Yes that is a downside to the Cathy pacfic deal. However my final destination is Nepal so I am spending another 350$ roundtrip from BKK to Kathmandu.
So I really had to try to save every penny, so I decide to screw the miles and same a 150$
