actually Chang Mia if a long Chang sound like Chahng would mean "Forget about the Wife"
or if it was it was swapped Mia Chahng (with a rising tone on Chahng) would mean "Elephant Wife"
and in either case is probably appropriate

IMO, minimize the time in BKK by going to an island - Phuket, Samui. You can still let her go for her massage and you can find the local rub-n-tug for you.
Back in BKK maybe stay on Satorn Rd. Sukhothai, Banyon Tree, Metropolitan are all nice 5 star hotels. Since you can't really walk anywhere, you get to direct the taxis wherever you want and can steer clear of the places where you don't want to get spotted.
If she absolutely wants to see one of the go- go bars or sex shows, tell her you read that there has been a big crack down on these places ( no nudity), raids etc. and you don't want to be caught up in any of that.
If you personally have not stayed in any of the above mentioned places, it will 'honestly' be all new to you and more convincing.
Most of these suggestions will give you threads (if not more) of the truth. this is the best way to for you to have a relaxing time as well as keep the Mrs. out of harms way.
Have a great time! But maybe wear a fake moustache and glasses just to be really safe!

Hey! I knew a lot of good advices would come out of a thread here! Thanks guys! My travel agent suggested Conrad hotel as a good one. Have never stayed there but heard and also read somewhere here that is top quality.

After yours truly has had the first "bring-wife-to-LOS" experience I will make a little FR. Perhaps so boring all of you will fall asleep. If so - I passed! And btw: 3 months later I will be there again - unfortunately she can not join me then -- sob..... and before our joint mission I will also be there for a couple of weeks so I will just have to make a map and stay in areas one can not visit later - without moustache!

Conrad is a nice hotel, sure. You have club 87 in the hotel so you do not have to 'go around' town for an evening drink.
But, I think you should take a more resort kind of hotel. Conrad is a typical city hotel. Say at i.e. the Shangri-La or Mariott riverside. you can laze around the pool and relax. It is also a bit further away from the 'scene'. And many nice restaurants and bars in this area (along the river) without the P4P pressure. Your wife will certainly understand that you love the place....

Take her also to see some cabaret ( I think Calypso is still around ) and after that to Hotel Landmark's pianobar for a drink or two.
And if You like to treat her, take her to Chinatown, Yaowarat Street and buy her some gold ( and let her see how chaosed that part is )  .

Right...Then she could just look out the window right down on NEP and don't forget run into about 100 older men with young local girls in tow on the front sidewalks. This could be your last trip here.
The river hotels are the best bet as advised above. They are way out of it that even if she wants to go the nightly entertainment spots, by the time you make it there by taxi you will have to catch your plane back home.

you could bring her to Emporium around 11am, have a quick bite, let her 'loose' in the shopping mall & tell her that you'll be hanging around in the bookstores & meet her in 3-4 hrs time.That way,you could go to Barons for a quick 2 hrs oily with Khun Beer, Seng or Oil. A friend opf mine has been trying this stunt for the few times that his GF tagged along with him on the numerous biz trips there.So far, he is ok,so far....

I actually do take my wife to Patpong. She is mroe likely to believe that I have been there than not. So I go for the, sure I've been there, I say, 'leazy f_cking tourist trap'. That she believes, but that I have never been there - she would never believe that.
In my case I VERY rarely party in Patpong so I am pretty safe there.
