Aside from the factors mentioned by the various bros and myself, the weather is probably the biggest difference in December from other times of the year. Tends to be cooler and less humid, pleasant shirt-sleeves, long-pants weather. But the P4P scene is pretty constant all year round.

Cool, well as long as its still warm, and the sun is out,
as I have a week in pattaya and phuket, and want to be out on the beach
i intend to book my flight at least two months in advance,
as for accomodation, I will book the first couple of days for when I get there, and then the last couple,
but might leave the rest until i'm there and do it with a TAT, or do you guys reckon thats a big mistake???

Don't come in December. It's a terrible time to visit LOS. There were several days when I slipped on the ice on Soi 11, and those bastard motocycle taxis have a pretty good aim with snowballs. I also had to get up 20 minutes earlier and start the car running to de-ice the windscreen.
You also have to take into account that the streets and shops are overpacked with carol-singers (although, admittedly, Silent Night in Laos is a beautiful sound) and people trying to do their last minute shopping for that well known Buddhist festival, Christmas Day.
One nice thing though. The street food vendors all set up small ovens and do Roast Turkey dinners, complete with cranberry sauce and Christmas Pudding. Very nice. Just the thing for a cold day, although eating it with chopsticks gets a bit difficult.
For me, the worst thing is the television. Endless repeats of The Great Escape. The Queen's Speech (dubbed in Thai by Tata Young), and the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special from 1973.
Stay home. You know it makes sense.

Nothing is preventing you to spend the time with a familiar BG even if the bars are closed. I did that on Dec 5 2003 and it was really fun. I didn't go to check bars but I was told that some would be open but alcohol woudn't be serviced.
I stayed with Lao girl on Jomptien beach where she had some friends joined too.
7/11 is always open anyway  We bought a bottle of thai whiskey from there and some mixers and beers from the beach vendors. No problems. And some food too. Beach was full of ppl because of the day off. I thought it was a nice change in rhytm, staying away from the bar.
Any ideas what songs would be forbidden to be played?
I would advice not to play Rainbow's 'Kill The King'!
Possible dangers:
1) The more popular bars might be overcrowded. (full is ok but I like space)
2) Girls might want higher prices and..
3) Girls might give worse performance (due to the high spenders on their short holidays and large amounts of customers to choose from)
And it's "cold". Really, at night time when I was riding a moto back to Jomptien I was hoping I had my winter clothes on =)
About +18 only and the breeze.. man!
During daytime you won't freeze but I like Thailand to be a bit hotter when I visit there what it is in Dec/Jan.
