I have to say those maternity smocks the attendants wear on CI look like crap, EVA w/the pinstripe buisness style uniform is a turn on for me, CI needs a change, bring out the beauty of their attendants, really like EVA's 777

That is why I asked you to clarify your position.

Mine is a quite serious suggestion as to a cause.
FOD (Foreign Objects and Debris) represents the one of the greatest dangers to an aircraft on landing or take-off. If an odd piece of junk is sucked into a jet engine at top RPM, the turbines disintegrate and the engine flies to pieces. This can cause all types of nasty things to happen including, but not limited to, explosions of the wing fuel tanks.
Another possible source are birds. If a bird gets sucked into an engine the same thing as described above could happen.
This is why runways are inspected and swept for FOD on a regular basis and why Airports are so concerned about keeping birds away from flightlines and approach/departure paths.
It is interesting to note that if the Heathrow protesters really wanted to close the airport, all they would have to do is release several hundred pigeons in the vicinity of their encampment although this would probably get PETA on their case...

Yes back to the topic. If it was FOD, then it was bad luck and probably not related to China Air's practices so no need to worry about flying China Air.
Unless a piece of safety wire and/or hardware came loose in the engine and it FODed itself out. For heavies this is a more likely scenario as the height of the engines from the ground make intake of FOD from the ramp very rare. That's more of a realistic worry for fighters.
Anyway, there I go off topic. China Air is a good value, so fly them if it fits your budget.

I flew American Airlines to Costa Rica, and it was one of the riskiest flights, as we had a FOD while attempting to land at a stop-over airport -- the FOD in question was, in fact, another AA plan that was on the runway. Thanks to the alertness of our pilot, he just took off (without ever touching down), and we came back for another go.
