Most airlines are about the same when it comes to coach or economy class seating and food etc; only difference is prices. I had a SARS Expedia trip LAX to BKK $183 RT/Taxes included on Cathy, just happen stance right time right computer search. As for business class and 1st that another price issue but comforrts are sure sweet for Pacific jumps. My preference when I have money is Thai Air cause I like the service, seating room, and food; just a preference but they are always around $750. Best routes I think are with Singappore; LAX, Honalulu, Manila, Bangkok because I hare bein couped up in planes for lengths of time. United sucks, Northwest sucks, KAL sucks, JAL so so, China so so, Singappore so so, Cathy a bit better, Thai thumbs up with me. Still economy is economy so get the best prices cause it will take you 3 years to get enough sky mile for free trips.

What about travel in Thailand? Is it better to purchase tickets directly from Thai Airlines (at the airport/on-line) or go thru a local travel agent? Love flying Thai Airlines, only recommended improvement would be offering STs once airborne and getting 10,000 miles for joining the Mile High Club.

I have usually saved a few baht by emailing my travel agent, Thailand Travel Service (TTS) and having them book my flights - I tell them dates and times. They send me itins viewable online, and I pay with a VISA or cash when I go in and pick up the tickets. They can do hotels as well. Ask for Lydia or Susan at TTS. Info about them (phone, email address, etc.) is at this link, halfway down the page: http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=27&topic=62&start=10
