Make sure you get her in a taxi during rush hour. Then all you need is a TTM place near your hotel. She will not want to travel around anymore and will go to this TTM place while you take the skytrain or a motorbike to your favorite locale. You can then be as late as you want and blame the heavy traffic.

For an easy beach escape close to Bangkok, go to Hua Hin. Book the Hyatt there. It is utterly boring, utterly isolated, but very nice as a get away resort situation. You will be totally isolated from any P4P distractions.

Bringing coals to Newcastle:
Eat mostly at McDonalds, Kentucky Fried, etc.; get takeouts from 7/11, buy "Spicy Thai Salad" (or Spicy Thai anything) for her whenever you can; pick up occasional fried bugs on the street and try to force them on her (tell her "everyone eats 'em here - 'when in Rome etc.'..." ) ;...then tell her "I never have been able to figure how people can say that Thai food is so good".
Take a long-tail boat excursion down a smelly klong (any one), and pick a deserted spot to go sunbathing.
Lose her in Chinatown for a couple of hours - time enough for a panic attack in all the chaos - ("Don't know why you couldn't get me on the mobile, must have lousy connections here." )
Dash across Asoke at rush hour, leave her behind for another panic attack as she tries to cross by herself ("Gee, I thought you were right there with me".)
Travel around town in crowded streets on motorcycle taxis; the younger her driver the better (worse!). Wrap a hanBKerchief to cover your nose/mouth and warn her that she had better do the same.
Rant on about SARS and bird flu in LOS.
Act very nervous whenever you pass someone on a quiet sidewalk at night - squeeze her hand and pull her close.
Drag her to la bunch of lesser Wats in out-of-the-way villages, explaining with a big smile "This is the real Thailand..."
Do an overnite nature tour. Bring mosquito repellant but don't let her know you have some.
If the weather gets really rough, take a boatride from Pattaya to one of the islands. Take Dramamine a half hour before taking off - but don't tell her. Tell her the weather's always like that, that's what makes it so much fun.
If she wants sex tell her that the heat keps you wilted, and if she doesn't then pop Vitamin V and don't take no, don't take no, don't take no for an answer.
Take as many photos as you can to remind her of her 'great' trip - to 'impress' her most critical friends back home with the 'wonderful' places she's been.
Act surprised at her excuses to let you go alone from then on - with her blessings. Make up a business reason to go, to put up with all that just for her.

Yes - I have actually heard of that before - but how boring is it on a scale? Will I be totally nuts and run away at night to chase a go-go that dont exist? Maybe I can blame sleepwalking!

ROTFLMAO!! Great advices and I guess you are married too?! It might be good to point out though that I love my wife and is the one I spend my life with - lone visits to LOS is "recreation" and occasional fun for the naughty side of ones mind --- as I guess is the case for most of you bros out there!

But, I think you should take a more resort kind of hotel. Conrad is a typical city hotel. Say at i.e. the Shangri-La or Mariott riverside. you can laze around the pool and relax. It is also a bit further away from the 'scene'. And many nice restaurants and bars in this area (along the river) without the P4P pressure. Your wife will certainly understand that you love the place....
Me to have the same problem as Jojje now in august. Fiancee with me for only a few days in BKK. Got to stay away from the Suk.
The riverside area, how is that? As we like to dance, nightclubing and bar-hoping is there ANY larger Discos there? I'm 30ish, she 20ish so something like Qbar at the riverside would be superb - Possible?
