I got my tickets for $1150 using sidestep.com, I am leaving from NY to BKK.. mid dec to early jan. I gotten my tix for 700 last year around july time period, but I didn't want to wait too long to get the tix because I didn't want it going up on me.

UA is having a sale. Price from Philly to BKK has dropped from $1450 return to $1050. for September thru November. Last year I paid $695. Pricing is lame.

Yes, UA has dropped their prices for visits of less than 30 days to Asia for Sept/Oct. Not as low as last year, but still hundreds less than they have been asking the past month.
My favorite new place for fares is http://www.kayak.com - it is a "super-search engine", using the itasoftware engine near and dear to my heart  as well as many other sites. EVA, China Air and Phillipine are all under $800 RT from LAX Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec.

10/07/05 LAX to BKK on EVA for $750, and I get to pick my seats ahead of time, and I have the flight that leaves LAX at night so I am in BKK at 11:10 AM. Done on their website.
I really enjoy going to BKK via Taipei as they have nice, free showers in the transit area restroom. And after a 13 hour flight when you have two hours to kill, its just real nice to sit down and take a dump, then a nice hot shower, followed by a shave. Then the flight to BKK is nothing but 3.5 hours of pleasure.
Likewise on the retun flight there is always some reason I get all hot and sweaty in Bangkok before the flight. Going via Taipei, same thing, shower up, get nice and clean and if the body demands, take a dump. I feel so much more human on a 12 hour flight when I feel clean.

I don't have a map of the airport, but in the two hours between connections you should be able to find them.
Location: On the new side they are located on the same level as where you get off the plane. To transfer you go upstairs but if you stay on the lower level you'll find them, just look for the signs for restroom. If you are on the top you can take the stairs down from the duty free shopping area to where the shuttle train stops. Get on the train and take it to the end of the line, and that will put you out right by the showers.
On the old side, they are located on the upper level but between the two sides, close to be in the area where you can look down and see the immigration booths. These restrooms are not as nice as in the new, but still have the hot showers and free.

A travel agency quoted me $685. I think this special offer ends August 15th.
