What I said was that if *one* engine failed then it wouldn't be a problem. The gliding characteristics of a 747 are only relevant if all 4 engines fail.
In any case, a 747 has a good lift/drag ratio, so in fact it is a very good glider.
Here's what you said, and I quote
"It's not the engines that keep you in the air - it's the wings. As long as the wings don't fall off, I wouldn't be worried."

It furken is if you only have one engine, lol, and I'm a pilot and I should know, no matter how good the wings are, you only got SO long in the air, lol.

When I was in flight school (military), they played us the actual black box recordings of a few famous aviation accidents. İHaving studied each situation before listening to the audio, I couldn't help but be amazed at how calm and sharp almost all of the pilots sounded. İSome of the those guys clearly knew that they were screwed and they died trying to land their aircraft as safely as possible. İSimply incredible.
Best lesson learned from flight school: takeoffs are optional; landings are mandatory.
