Considering the recent rise in fares from the U.S, to Bangkjok, this might be something to look at: http://www.cathay-usa.com/dotm/dotm.asp LA or SF or NY to BKK starting at $636 plus tax ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York (JFK). 636 USD is a hell of a deal, it is almost worth booking a southwest ticket to LAX and flying out that way. I am trying to get out of Canada August 18 and the cheapest flight (with availability) is 2K CAD If anyone hears of a better deal, please post it.

Another thing you can try is the ITA engine (free) : http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/prego For you, change the ticketing city to anyplace in Canada (i.e. YYZ). It will look at inventory of almost every connection combination, something many of the other search engines do not. I am partial to the above ITA engine, as I was involved in some of it. You can't book from this engine, but you should be able to provide a good travel agent the flights and fare codes, all this engine is doing is finding fares that the computers are storing. It's value is that it prices hundreds of flight and fare combinations. From the USA, the fares are much higher than in past years at this time. United has stopped undercutting everyone. But I see $728 tax included from SFO at the end of August.

That is a hell of a search engine, unfortunately the cheapest from YVR with 2 stops (2 stops is 1 too many) is 1832 + taxes and other charges.

At least some of the fall fares are proving to be somewhat reasonable. I'd be all over either the Cathay or decent Eva fares for my October-November trip if I didn't have an expiring voucher that I need to use on KAL, but even KAL's cuurent price (without my voucher) is a workable $812.00 from Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas and less from the west coast) for fall dates. I'm sure most of the other usual suspects will (be forced to) match or approximate these prices as well. Of course, the "hidden costs," are the additional visitors crowding the streets and venues of LOS, but that just makes for a bigger party, right? P.

CG, I consider myself fairly well versed in Internet travel and I have to say this site (The ITA one) that you have posted was not part of my collection. I will be tucking that one away for future reference indeed. Great site and thanks for the link...
