On my last visit checked in flts from Udon Thani to Chang Mai, couldn't believe there were none available. Checked with a travel agent and the bellboy's. Had to rent a van for the 10 hour drive to Chang Mai, would of been cheaper to fly.

Thanks, thought it was strange that there was no flts between 2 major cities (well one major and one minor city). Not sure I'd like flying on NOK Air (safety), but it has to be safer than the hills and swerving roads.

NOK is OK. I've flown it a couple of times from Udorn to BKK and my family just flew it last week. It is one hell of a lot safer and easier than the bus. My wife was going to take the bus to save money. I convinced her it was fine to spend 3,500 baht for the two of them to fly and get home in one hour rather than take a bus and get home 14 hours later. She was easily convinced and had a much more pleasant journey

Me thinks NOK is quite ok since related to Thai Airways via some co-ownership. Also planes leased from Thai - which you can actually see on some of the decor! I have flown them plenty of times and see no flaws at all. No problem - personally I prefer them many times over the f...g Air Asia and their ridiculous rules with only 15 kg luggage and then really charging you for every gram over it!
