I hope this is the right place to post this question.
I am going to be making a side trip to Vientiane Laos on my upcoming trip. I will likely be wanting to take an Isaan lady with me as Gf/interpreter. I am wondering what is the usual requirements for a TG to travel into Laos? Will they require a passport or will an ID be good enough? Any snags that I should be aware of??
I have never been into Laos and I am thinking having a Isaan lady that speaks Lao would be a great assett travelling there but if getting her across the border and back will be a huge issue it may not be worth the trouble.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hey There Cyborg.
When I went to Laos I had no probs getting the Thai lady over with just her I.D card, but this was just for a day out.
Plus at the border I hired a Driver to Take us out to show Laos, My Thai lady took care of this and wasn't much money I think it was about 3000 Baht, It was worth doing as they drive on the other side of the road to Thailand but the same as U S of A.
I went over the Nong Khai border but sadly I can't remember the last one but they offered the same service.

We will be planning to spend two nights over there so it won't JUSt be for a day trip but rather two nights and one full day.
Thanks for the info...I will keep looking into details. I would ask my Thai lady for info but alas...I don't yet have one picked out.
