Hi,

My uncle recently had an accident and has been prescribed Vicodin. Unfortunately, he has no prescription drug plan and has to pay a LOT for these pain killers. Could anyone please tell me how much they cost in Thailand (the generic ones) ? Also, Is there a limit to how much one can bring? I am thinking in terms of maybe 1 bottle with 100 caps or so.

Thanks.

P.S.- I was looking at online pharmacies, but the prices are not that cheap. So I am shopping around.

EDIT:
Again, sorry, but if anyone is in BKK right now, could they just ask a pharmacy or something. I would be very grateful.

Bump.

Sorry for bumping this up, but I really need this answer.

Can I purchase Hydrocodone with a Western Doctor's (Canadian) prescription in Thailand? And would anyone be kind enough to ask for the price?

I looked on the net, but to no avail.

Please help me out, thanks.

I would guess yes. Basically you can buy almost anything without a prescription.

Anyway, some years ago when I was not living here, a colleague had asked for me to bring her back some pills -I do not remember what exactly they were, but some sort of diet pills. The pharmacy said their sale was restricted. But given that I was going to take them out of the country there was no problem. All she did was make a copy of my passport and I had to sign on a copy of the receipt that I was a tourist going to take them outside the country. I guess she did that in order to be able to account for the inventory and the lack of prescription. But truth is, I know sh*t about this stuff.

Thanks, I was thinking, since a friend might be going to BKK, I could ask him to get a bottle (with the prescription ofcource.)

I could get it FedExed. Canada law says as long as it is no more than 90 days supply and a prescription of a Canadian doctor, I can get it in.

Thanks for being so concerned Teacher, but I am asking because the price here is something like $3.00 per pill and my uncle is worried about the costs. Also, I checked the rules by phoning the doc.

I guess you could send an email to misterK@thailand.net
He is the manager of "Siam Drug" shop in Patpong, they are part of a drugstore chain, knowledgeable and helpful.
Other option is the pharmacy down Rama IV, opposite Chulalongkorn Hospital, very competitive for this type of things.
