Generally I am wary of any numeral variety of herpes! ÝFrom what I know (dad is a doctor, I'm not, so this is not expert testimony), one of the varieties of herpes can infect any part of your body (hands, torso, you name it). All varieties are spread via contact. ÝThat would make it possible for sampling the delicacies of fine local hair pie to transmit herpes all over a dude's face, if he is the kind that likes to smear his face in said pie (I personally enjoy that too - the smearing, not the herpes). ÝThe same as having one of the open bastards on your lip, from the oral variety, can infect the nether regions of an oral-receiving partner. Ý
I've got the oral version (shit - but I guess that puts me in good company with 40% of the world; had heard that in the US it is closer to 75%); every six months a spot about the size of a shirt button erupts on my upper lip and that's not fun. ÝI abstain from any activity at all during that period - no kissing, no sex, no nothing. ÝNo sense in transmitting, and damn the person who gave it to me in the first place. Other than the unsightliness and abstenance requirements, it is not much of an issue for me. That however is no excuse to be careless with it and spread it. Hope others are as careful.

Sorry to disagree Oneeye and Sauron, and I may be wrong, not being a doctor.
These are three different viruses:
- HSV1 : herpes with eruptions located on non-sexual parts (e.g. face, lips, ears)
- HSV2 : this is the STD herpes, with eruptions on sexual parts.
As far as I know, one could not get face herpes (HSV1) due tuo "infected muff" diving (HSV2)
- CMV (cytomegalovirus) is different, as it can generate serious sickness, comparable to AIDS symptoms (hopefully with total recovery after a few days).
Once again, this is my 2 baht worth...

I don't remember which week Stick posted the message about said fateful muff dive. Would actually like to go back and check it. Anyway I'm going to keep careful.

I have the feeling that Stickman is quite biased and exaggerates a lot.
But I do have a question. The last time I went to KL and got my favourite girl. the next day the mamasan sent another girl saying that the first one had her periods. She also said her periods had sort of started the night before. Is that possible? Do they have very slow bleeding for some time, during which a muff diver could ingest traces (or slow trickles) of blood? I suppose it is not a risk otherwise many people would have got it by now, but it did set me thinking.

Airbus, they are the same virus (HS1 and HSII) manifesting itself in two different ways, the virus is identical, the symptomology is different.
Another example: HIV. Needle sharers get PCP while homosexuals (anal partners) get Kaposi's sarcoma. Go figure. Yes I recognize that neither are "caused" directly by HIV, the route of innoculation with HIV certainly does have a dramatic influence on the main symptomology. PCP is a protozoal infection from airborne dust of bird droppings. Kaposi's is a (probably virally induced) cancer. The former is the most common of a long list of opportunistic infections. IS Kaposi's an opportunistic infection? The jury is still out. Pre-AIDS, Kaposi's was a rare skin cancer only found in elderly men of eastern Mediterranean extraction (Italians, Greeks, Jews, some Arabs and Lebanese, etc.)
I agree with you, I'm skeptical about the facial herpes/Thermae girl thing.
And I was going by memory so I may be off about CMV. I may be confusing its connection with herpes zoster (shingles) which has nothing to do with H.simplex.

KISSING CAN CAUSE HERPES

The Australian Herpes Management Forum, which is to start an awareness campaign, has warned that a kiss is a major transmitter of herpes. The symbol of affection "poses risks to both adults and children".
"No parent kissing their child or partner kissing their girlfriend wants to pass along the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), but people should be aware this is the main method of transmission. Once you have been infected with HSV-1 or HSV-2, the virus stays in your body for life and can reactivate at any time," the Australian media quoted AHMF's Executive Director Tricia Berger.
"If you have a herpes sore on or near your mouth, it is likely that you'll pass the virus along to whomever you kiss. It is also possible to transmit the virus even when there are no apparent sores or symptoms, but the risk is higher when the sores are visible," Berger said.
HSV-1 is the variant of the virus otherwise referred to as cold sores. It is commonly acquired as a child from contact, often a kiss, with adult relatives.
Berger said the herpes risk posed by kissing would be the main theme of a new community service awareness campaign. Television and radio ads will be aired nationally from August up to National Herpes Awareness Day, in October.
