Going on a two months travel trough Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. I'm planning to buy malaria tablets in Bangkok. I have read that Malarone is the best to take. Have been searching on the internet but I can't find any recent info that confirms that you can buy this over the counter in BKK and if so, what is the price?

I found an article on the internet that said that the only place in Asia where you can buy this is Singapore. Decided to buy it back home and as it turned out my health insurance covers it. Somebody is making a lot of money of these pills, they cost 3 euro per tablet! The KLM travel clinic in Holland advised against Doxycycline because it is an antibiotic and kills just about everything in your body. I looked it up and apparently Doxycycline is also used for gonorrhea and Chlamydia so you might kill two flies with one stone if you need malaria tablets and have a SD Cheers

Also be advised Doxy lessens your resistance to the sun, meaning you can get sunburn alot easier. Melfaquine is also a good answer for you. There is the more socially acceptable answer, Tonic with Quinine, approximately 1 ltr per day (mixed with Gin or VoBKa is nice) does the same thing as most Malaria profilis.
