Where can I get a top-to-toe health check in BKK?
Is Bumrungrad any good? I read they rush you through things.

Both Bum run and BNH do a range of check options - but check what is included in each to see whether it covers your needs. I had one that was sold as a full one, but I had an uneasy feeling that passing it didn't really mean that I was fit as a fiddle.
That said, I'm still alive....

well, I guess if you like to wait and wait, Bumrungrad may not be for you
what I like about it, I get there a bit before eight for an eight o'clock appt..
by 7:50 they are drawing blood and by ten I am done with a complete physical.. I get to come back to see the Dr. the next day and have felt I got adequate time with him..
compare this to the USA where first I wait for about an hour in the waiting room (so aptly name, n'est pas)
then I get to the small room where I get to wait for another 30 minutes or so... then maybe I get 5 minutes from the dr. who rushes off...
I pay for my physicals in bkk, it is worth the money as it saves a lot of time.. co pays etc, often mean it is cheaper in Thailand anyway

I'll second that impression - I do my physicals at Bumrungrad every 6 months, or yearly (however the mood strikes me), and same - get there at 8:00am, I'm usually out by 1:00pm, and I don't feel that there was any rush, or I was missing anything. In fact, I enjoy the talks with the doctors (again, not rushed) and usually request them to an an extra test here or there that I want done).
The only thing that has gotten annoying over the past few years is how the Bum is now getting more and more cramped with Arabs and their black ghosts... Individually, they can be pleasant (obligatory disclaimer), but in such masses it just gets unpleasant.

I have had great service at Bumrungrad, and I have had TERRIBLE service there. For a complete checkup, it is hard to beat, as they have nearly every piece of equipment and procedure you could ever dream of.
If they DO find something wrong, however, I would advise a cautious approach, with at LEAST one second opinion, at another venue. If it is something serious, the other venue should be Chula or Siriraj...
Bumrungrad is in it's post-marketing-hype phase, and are, IMHO, resting on their laurels, while raking it in hand-over-fist. Some of the doctors there have succumbed to the Farang-ATM syndrome, and some are downright contemptuous, similar to the bungalow owners on Koh Samui. Familiarity (with Farangs) breeds contempt, I guess...
Caveat emptor.

Loudly agree with haam sup. Exactly my thoughts of the place.
The wife and I had our check-ups less than a month ago - early August at Bumrungrad.
They recommended day surgery for the wife. (80k baht to be paid in advance).
Second opinion next day at Phya Thai Hospital said surgery not required or necessary and anyway, not presently available to us as - according to her blood tests from Bum - she was currently mildly anaemic and just beneath the safe threshold. Enjoy.

I always laugh when I think of the McDonalds on the mezzanine at Bumrungrad, and the Heart Center, one floor up...

I left the Bum a few years ago, I go to Samitivej Hospital
near Thong Lor BTS. They have a Wellness Center that
provides a very competive (to the Bum) service. I had
a scan of my brain there last time on a moments notice,
a whim of mine as it were. Just wanted to know if there
was a physical basis for my memory deterioration. There
was some atrophy detected. I am going in tomorrow for
a full body PET scan, at it's "sister", Bangkok Hospital. Total cost, app. 60,00 bht. Provides a good base line,
and, more particularly, the earliest cancerous growth detection if any exist.
They also have a very nice fusion restaraunt right outside the front door, much better than Mickey D's @ the Bum!

I have been using BNH for my medical needs when in BKK.
None of Duck's Middle Easterner's there so it is not crowded and the service is prompt and professional.
