I got bitten over 15 times by damn mosquitoes and concerned about malaria. Is malaria prevalent in BKK?

I'd be more worried about Dengue fever. 555! Malaria, humm maybe that's why tonic water is in such short supply as reported in the Pattaya Forum.

There hasn't been any malaria in Bangkok for quite awhile, but if it was a daytime mosquito dengue fever is a high possibility as they are prevenant in the Klong Toei area, which lower Sukhumvit is part of. There were 37,000+ cases in Bangkok last year reported. I do know 3 people that contracted it in Bangkok last year, and have pictures of the rashes on one girl. The malaria mosquito is a night time mossie, and if you start feeling all sweaty with shortness of breath, and a bad bad head ache, by all means go get checked. Dengue will be like getting the flu, and you might break out in a rash, if that happens, or your temperature gets real high go to the hospital. There is no cure for it, unlike malaria, but they can keep you stablized so you don't die if it hits you hard, only about 15% of the cases die.

... another symptom if dengue is left untreated, is that your f***ing EYES bleed in the advanced stages... you can just imagine how bleeding eyes makes picking-up chicks hard as hell, and forget about that BBBJ, or COF!... now, THAT's some bad shit.

Oh, only 15%? That's quite reassuring, isn't it?

Dengue fever in Klong Toey? Really? I can see Klong Toey from my appartement, it is covered with thousands of plastic bags and if some moskito larvae can devellop in this "water" then for sure they must be f***ing monsters... So far I never got bitten, be it daytime or nightime. I think the pollution killed most moskitos in Bangkok anyway

That would only be from severe dengue if the patient is not hospitalised, only around 3% of cases of dengue are classed as severe, (and possibly much less as many cases of dengue are not reported).
