I've been using some proxy servers of late to access various sites here in LOS. However, when I am prompted for my password, the proxy gives me a message stating that the proxy has access to my pword and log in details, so they must be trusted for safety issues. My question is: Has anyone had problems with proxies using your log in details to share your pword with others, or even worse, use your account details for other, malicious purposes? In sum, I am wondering about the safety of proxies. Can anyone help w/ this? Thanks, K

Not sure whether I'm answering your question or confusing the issue, but hope the following stuff might help (someone). I'll make some assumptions here: (1) You are using your own computer and not a kiosk, school or I-Net cafe system (2) You live in TH and ISPs there block access to "certain sites" (3) You are using dial-up, possibly broadband (4) You are primarily interested in bypassing any censorship controls, and less concerned with privacy & security Albiet real expensive, I have dialed in to AOL via the local TH ph#s and never had a problem accessing "certain sites". I've never used the website you mentioned, but my guess is if they continually prompt you for your userID and password, either you're deliquent on any service payments (if pay site), may be network error on their end, or could be a 3rd party proxy server you're being routed through is no longer open for anonymous access. Here are some sites you can check out if you haven't found a solution to your problem yet. Ghost Surf Platinum 2005... not free (well if you buy it outside Pantip and the likes). But pretty effective. No sites are taboo for me.

baba, Thanks for the replies. I've been away for a while, but was happy to see the replies. As to your questions: (1) You are using your own computer and not a kiosk, school or I-Net cafe system CORRECT (2) You live in TH and ISPs there block access to "certain sites" CORRECT (3) You are using dial-up, possibly broadband PRIMARILY BBAND, BUT SAME PROB WHEN GO TO DIAL UP - LIVE IN THAILAND (4) You are primarily interested in bypassing any censorship controls, and less concerned with privacy & security SECURITY IS ALSO AN ISSUE (See below) Also, fyi, the proxy sites I mention are free, so no payment issues there. I wonder if I was clear in my original query, though. It is as follows: Lets say I belong to a paid web site, call it 'Thai Ladies." This is a pay site and my dues are all paid. It is legal in the USA - not an underage site or anything like that. Just a normal pay site. But it is restricted in Thailand. When I try to access it w/out proxy from here in LOS, the infamous message appears (see below) : Forbidden You were denied access because of, at least, one of the following reasons: this page is in blacklist. (For more information, please refer to http://www.cattelecom.net/watch-dog/) So, enter an anonymous proxy. I get prompted for the url, now get to the site's main page successfully, and then am asked to enter my site pword. This is my question: Can the proxy steal my pword? And further to that, can they find a way in to my files (via worm or whatever) to get more info on me? Are you with me? Thanks for your help. Blocking here is becoming rampant. Try a google search here (using a local server) for free proxies and 90% of them come up restricted site blah blah blah. Cheers.
