Sources close to Adobe that have been briefed on the company’s future development plans have revealed this forthcoming announcement to ZDNet: Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates. Additionally, the e-mail briefing to Adobe’s partners has been summed up as follows: Adobe is Stopping development on Flash Player for browsers on mobile. Adobe is now focusing their development efforts on: Applications for mobile Expressive content on the desktop (in and out of browser) Increasing their investments in HTML5 in general The full content and scope of the announcement is expected to be posted on the Adobe web site in the next day. I’m sure every reviewer who’s ever claimed that iOS’s lack of support for Flash is a disadvantage — the result of nothing more than spite on Apple’s part — will apologize and admit their error. Anyway: good riddance to bad rubbish.

From Steve Jobs' open letter about Flash. "Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it," Jobs said in an open letter on the issue published in April 2010. "Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short." "New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind," concluded Jobs, it nows seems somewhat prophetically, at the time.

at long last! best website of the year: Occupy Flash the heroes behind the site proudly announce: 'Flash Player is dead. Its time has passed. It's buggy. It crashes a lot. It requires constant security updates. It doesn't work on most mobile devices. It's a fossil, left over from the era of closed standards and unilateral corporate control of web technology 'Our goal: To get the world to uninstall the Flash Player plugin from their desktop browsers' .....now if someone can come up with the sister idea of Occupy Windows

Sadly, the only sad idea that sprung up was OccupyHtml5. Kid you not. A bunch of desperate, lazy, and dumb Flash coders came up with that.

Windows is so yesterday - I don't even consider it a viable issue anymore. I hope Steve Ballmer remains in charge of Microsoft for a very long time
