Pacific King,

Good to hear the web sms messaging is working for you.

I downloaded ICQ lite but can't get the sms function to work. Tried to send sms from both email and the web but no good.

Did you download the full or the lite version??

Thanks.

KTMDUDE,
Go to this site, then download the file (3.79mb).  Most of this page is in Thai, but just go to bottom, and find the download button.  Then install it.  Then ADD your friends/contacts.  If you just want to add someone with a cellphone who doesn't have ICQ you can too that too.   Then ADD ICQ SMS, which is simpy typing in their cellphone number (don't forgot to drop the 0 in the area code).  If you do it right, your friend's name should have an icon of a phone next to their name, then anytime you want to send them a message, just double click on their name.  You can send up to 135 characters.  Good luck!!

correction you can send up to 140 carachters. if you want to do up to 160 do it through icq website instead of using the software -but then there is a daily limit- icq software is great. but is smsing for the first time to someone u will have to let them know who u are cuz the number that will show would be one that the person wont recognize.

Thanks PK and Smeg,

I just downloaded and installed the full ICQ software.

However I still get the same message when trying to send sms:  "The Cellular network is currently unable to send your message to the recipient. Please try again later."

Get the same message when attempting to send to Thailand or here in Australia. This was the same message I continually got when trying to send using ICQ Lite.

Perhaps the cellular networks I'm attempting to send to do not support this function??

KTMDUDE,
Here's another link that explains how to do it in detail.  However, it looks like the networks you are trying to send it to aren't compatible with ICQ.  Here is the list of networks you should be able to send messages to, according to their website...

Australia:  vodafone, Optus, Telstra
Thailand: AIS, TAC

Thanks PK,

Looks like it's probably no go for me. And I don't know what carrier my TG uses.

In Australia I use Virgin, but this uses the Optus cellular network.

If anyone living in Thailand uses either AIS or TAC, can you give me your cell phone number so I can test the sms function.

Thanks, KTM

I just sent a sms to an optus number in Australia and this works fine......great!!

There's only 2 cellular networks listed for thailand, so the choice is perhaps limited. Not sure how many other cellular networks are in Thailand.

Dude, it's XMas, phone networks, both cellular and landline traditionally max out. Try again tomorrow.
