GIEVALI said....'I guess u're using another non-infected PC to surf right now... lucky u'

no problem viewing any website I want to,i just can't open any links that might be there.
for instance I can view BTF and post but cannot open the links hzink and mike239 provided to try and help me.
if I click on the links my PC freezes for around 45 Seconds and plays up for a while.
so I am still using the same PC and doing everything I want to except view any links on any site or thumbnails on Websites.

but I got home tonight and I was able to open my PM's on BTF which I could not do this morning.
read ones from hzink and ManuelBKK,so that is a slight improvement.
seems I can now access Mozilla again which I also could not do this morning.

i have Ad-Aware,AVG and Spybot installed and have run them all and they tell me I am virus free.
but what the hell do they know?
thanks for the help and any further tips......

and I also cannot open the link to the emoticoms.....

I am not a computer expert, but here's the latest news on mac virus.

Virus tries to take bite out of Apple's security
Attack remains low risk
By Daniel Sieberg
CNN
Monday, April 12, 2004 Posted: 7:19 PM EDT (2319 GMT)

(CNN) -- The first Trojan horse virus to target Apple's latest operating system was discovered this week, and it appears to prey on the popularity of Apple's popular music service. However, it has not been released into the "wild" or on the Internet, and therefore remains low risk.

Trojan horse viruses typically open a secret door for hackers to exploit at a later time.

Macintosh security firm Intego received an e-mail copy of the virus on April 6, but stressed that it is not spreading through replication like a typical virus.

Intego dubbed it "MP3Concept" because of its "proof-of-concept" nature and because the malicious coding can be hidden within an attached MP3 music file. A modified version could also be inserted in other types of files, such as photos.

"We take this first Trojan very seriously," said Intego CEO Laurent Marteau. "This is very easy to modify and create a different version of the same problem."

Apple's operating system, Mac OS X, was released in early 2001, while Apple's iTunes music service was introduced in late 2003.

Double-clicking on the attached MP3 file launches the iTunes music program and simultaneously spawns the Trojan program in the background, said Marteau. But he added that it does not appear to be destructive except under certain computer settings. Intego stressed that this Trojan horse does not exploit any vulnerability in iTunes.

Security firm Symantec said Friday it was analyzing the virus for more details and agreed with the minimal damage level suggested by Intego.

Meanwhile, Apple said Friday that it's responding to the would-be threat and released the following statement:

"We are aware of the potential issue identified by Intego and are working proactively to investigate it. While no operating system can be completely secure from all threats, Apple has an excellent track record of identifying and rapidly correcting potential vulnerabilities."

Macintosh users have historically touted more robust security on Apple's machines. Security analysts also note that Apple retains less than 5 percent of the overall computer market, making it a much smaller target for hackers than Microsoft's Windows systems.

He I had similar problems due to all those protection tools such as Spy ware, open Spy ware or Spybot, then look under options for the BLOCKING URL list.
Check which url''s exactly are blocked then UNCHECK UNMARK those blocked URL's in your spy ware programs.
Also Internet => options security check there your settings. Your security settings are to tight I guess.
Also win xp sp 2 the latest internet update has closed many exploits in the mozilla browser [results in slower responsetimes and waiting times be4 poping up webpages] also the sp2 has now limited the number of simultaneous connections
here a link if you want to edit the nr. of allowed simultaneous connections to before sp2 => http://www.lvllord.de/4226fix/4226fix-en.htm

nokna... I think you have some pop-up blocker that is preventing new windows from opening. Check on that. You may have recently installed a software that does that.

Good Point BK. I want to state for the record - Ad-Aware free version will remove spyware adware. I pay for my subscription & I am thus immunized from the shit. I enable/disable pop-up blocker from the Ad-Aware SE control panel.

So if you are sick of spyware - or suspect that your computer may be infected - pay for the full version. Sleep well at night - one less problem to worry about.
I run full mcafee on this machine - Norton Anti-virus Pro 2005 & Zone Alarms 5.0 (both pirate versions) on my other 2 machines. The McAfee is a paid sub - can't afford any "accidents" on this dualie.

i have not knowingly installed any new software since August and that was Mozilla Firefox.
could be something infected causing the problem without me knowing, just by looking at the Internet?

i installed Mozilla because I lost IE totally and I did ask for help on this Forum.
Mozilla seemed to be really good but for the last Week just playing up.

a friend suggested downloading another anti-spyware program and it was brilliant.
he also suggested I re-install IE but when I tried the new program said it was infected and told me to get rid of it......,which I did.

the new program seems good but decides when it wants to work.
some days I can view anything I want to,but other days like today it seems to block everything.
it is so frustrating.......

as I said before no problem entering this site and reading and posting, but I cannot view any links or PM's which have been sent to me.

Dotcom sent me some useful help (thank you my friend, been busy and not been able to reply to you).
but I have now gone back to square 1 and I cannot view the advice Dotcom sent me and I see I have new messages but cannot open them.
i hope the people who sent them do not think I am ignoring them,i just cannot open them.

i will put my e-mail address in my profile and whatever you wanted to say please send it there......thank-you.
