This is what I did on the computer in my apartment in BKK. It's worked very well. My explanation for it (mostly true, lol) is that it prevents her from destroying work-related stuff by accident. And since it's the work-related stuff that supposedly pays our bills, she seems happy enough with that. "If computer die, cannot pay for apartment!" She's not computer savvy, but she's also not computer illiterate. Since we both use the machine (she uses it for email and other stuff), it's a good balance, and it really does keep my stuff separate; it's quite possible she would screw up my stuff and never know it.
Every once in a while, her brother, who is in his last year of college in BKK this year, drops by for a handout and to use the computer (for a homework assignment). He uses her account (which has no password) too, and so my stuff is a black box to him too. Only one admin on that machine, me.
