1-2-call is for sure a sim card only. But most people try to sell you a set as they make mor emoney on it. Just ask for 1-2-call only, with no handset! Try MBK 3rd floor there are lots of small shops who sell the sim only!

There are a some stores on the BTS stations. Not sure if all of them have the stores, Asoke station definitely has one.

it seems that dtac has opened up the system for all phones without a simlock! That means you should be able to take any gsm mobile on the world on the 1800/1900 frequency to be used on DTAC. Similar to AIS they also offer prepaid cards, so just get one of these and use your foreign phone you bring into Thailand. (again: this only works on dual band mobiles!)

MarBoonKrong certainly the easiest - only 3/4 stops on the BTS from Landmark/Nana. You can buy a 1-2-call for about 5000 bt, [Motorola] .. Nokia a bit more, this includes about 1500 baht worth of calls. Make sure you call the services dept. once you charge the phone, to enable you to put an English voice mail on the phone, you can also use these to call overseas, but need to buy a seperate, pre paid card. You also need to ask the service center to enable you to text message overseas. top up cards are 300 or 500 baht and available everywhere. - How do i know ..... yeah, everytime you get keen on a girl from "Ban Nok" [ up-country] who has just arrived in town, its only a matter of time before she puts the word on you for the mobile !! Ý 555 [ha-ha-ha]
