Quote: from Tyler Durdin on 7:45 pm on Aug. 21, 2005 Why wont the (ripped) DVDs play on my laptop but will play on the home DVD? Is there some option needed to click before ripping?
That's a good question that unfortunately I don't know the exact answer to. It seems that some DVD players will accept some DVD media but not all. For instance, a certain player may take +R but not -R. At least it seems this way with some of my friends who live near me. I'd experiment with different media until you find one that works in all of your devices (if there is one) and stick with it. Good luck! DVD burning does have its frustrations, but you still end up with more movies (and pornos, check out http://www.hit-flix.com/) than you could afford to buy outright. BC

Back in the US awhile back. Looking in Fry's for some legit software. Hard to beat Symantec's prices (with rebates, basically free; ultimate cost sales tax + postage). Anyway, while looking, several times, saw people looking at commercial version dvd copiers. Would stop by their side and ask, "Looking to copy some dvd's?" They'd get paranoid, saying "No, no, just looking." I'd reply, "Well, if you have an internet connection (who doesn't these days), google 'dvd shrink' and download. No real help with the program, but follow the links for some good tutorials. Beats spending $30, $40 here." "Thanks very much" would always be the reply. DVD Shrink coupled with DVD Decryptor can't be beat. Have yet to find a movie I can't duplicate (for when I travel).
