NaugMax, I can explain the Loxinfo situation to you in three words: bad server engineering. To whit, your time remaining is calculated on the base rate as if you were dialing up in the day time. If that's say 10 baht per hour and your account has 30 baht left, the disconnect timer is set for 3 hours. Aha, now if you make your connection in a discounted time zone and are only charged 6 baht per hour, it will still cash you out after three hours... But, once the connection is broken it finalizes the "transaction" and debits you account only 18 baht, leaving you with 12. You dial-up again, still in discount rate, it sets you up with 1.2 hour as a max time, cashes you out, recalcs that you've only used 7.2 baht, resets your balance to 4.8 baht... And so on right down to the bloody nub until you get a last connection that stays up about as long as I do after a dozen Britney Spears. Yes, they are f*cked for doing this, and any good server engineer would know better. However, they have none as far as I can tell. In other regards this doesn't mean f*ck all as the service tends to be pretty speedy as regards transfer rate. They do have a page where you can check your usage time and remaining balance, even on the temporary WebNet accounts, but I haven't the URL anymore. The problem isn't with your machine, it's them. And the getting knocked offline once or twice a day has likely more to do with the quality of the phone lines and the switches at the phone company. Transients happen.
