Hey all,
Can you someone just verify for me what I reckon I've worked out from reading all these posts of late.
All these different dates which are being bandied about, are in relation to people who need to register their existing sims?
I arrive in BKK on the 4th of january, and once again will be looking to head to mbk on the first day and pick up a new sim. I'm assuming, that If I bring along my passport that I shouldn't have any problems. Is this right?
Will whoever I buy the sim from (probably from one of the millions of phone counters upstairs), take my registration details? or do I have to then go to a different telewiz outlet or whatever?

Okay, I sent off an email just to be sure, but as far as I know, I have registered my number for International Roaming the first week I had it -- i.e. it's already registered. Will that be sufficient to prevent interruption of service?

Ok Update, I just got an e-mail from AIS/one 2 call informing me that my number has been subscribed to the international roaming service, thus its registered.
One thing it has taken around 48 hours after each of my e-mails to them for a reply, I`d sent three.
So guys just wait and you will hear from them.
Btw just make sure its your number thats registered as they made a mistake with my end digit, thus another e-mail back to them to correct their mistake.
Waiting another 48 hrs for the correction I hope.

You might want to double check the info you recived and make sure it also says your sim card number is registerd to : YOUR NAME : and country of nationality. otherwise your sim will still be deleted at the end of the month. registering for international roaming is not the same prosses and does not get you registerd for the owner of the number.
The reason for my comments is my friend ownes 4 mobile shops in mbk ( im not going to say which, I dont want to plug the biz ) the international roaming registering they do for the customers and all have the same persons name for the roaming..
Now they are required to get a copy of an ID card for thais and passport copy or proper id of any foreiners.
So im not sure that when you got international roaming you sent them a copy of your passport or anything else but when the system starts searching the data bases on dec 23 till jan 14th it might delete your number anyway.
The best way to cover yourself is find one of your girls in thailand and ask her to go and register your number for you. real easy she just goes to any phone shop ( ais 1-2-call ) tells them the number give them her id and your done.
