XBOX 360 won't be in thailand till sometime next year. I read that MS actually does not make any money on selling the hardware of the game (Might even take a Loss), where they make there money is on selling the games.
Since thailand is not a place where people are going out and buying the Real Games, they are not on the prime list of places to see the game first. Part might be economics, another part might be punishment for feeding the pirated software business.

Xbox 360 in MBK. 22,900 baht.
However bit of bargaining at the right store can get you one for 30,000 baht including 500w transformer, call of duty 2, perfect dark zero and ridge racer 6.
3 days ago Microsoft screwed up and relased a kiosk demo disk without the key on the disk which apparently has given the tech modchip boys a very big helping hand..
Xbox modchip sites are saying chip within 2-3 months and possibly a swap disk within the month.
Xbox 360 on a HDtv is simply breath taking btw

I actually read page 2 first -but after reading page one I think I am grasping the situation, but not entirely.
I bought fake XBOX games at Pathip last year - took them back to the UK and they would not wqork - put it down to experience - but from reading the posts on page one is it that I need to have a 'chip' installed - can someone explain?

Yes, you need a mod chip. All machines sold in Thailand (PS2 etc) are equipped with this modification.
Without this mod copy games don't work.

What about buying pirate PC games - do I need a mod chip for my PC?
I want to get the New Call of Duty 2 for either my old XBox or my PC - that's the nub of it!

You don't need a mod chip for pirate PC games, they should come with a 'crack' code so you can install and run them.
If you've got a decent net connection skip Panthip entirely and just download them yourself. Get bittorrent or similar and away you go. Same goes for PSP games, the games and the emulator to run them from a memory card are freely available from most decent torrent sites.

Well, not entierly truth. I bought some PS2 games for my nephew in BKK in 2004... He bought a "pin to fool the CD-ROM" (my guess you could do the same with a long needle or something) while loading these games... They work great... This same nephew got a Xbox 360 for christmas, so I would have to do something better for my next visit...
