Don't know of any free spots. "CS hotspots" is installing commercial hotspots; 1 hour for 180 Baht. Look at their website http://www.cshotspot.com
Their coverage right now is still poor:

This post comes to you via the Siam Discovery Center free Wi-Fi. Very nice connection speed, fast, free and unlimited access. Can't beat that!
Wait a minute...classic BKK shopping mall ambiance here with great food, great shopping, Uni. girls in uniforms all around. Yup! Skip feels like he's brought his laptop to heaven!

Laptop upside down on the floor is the least of my worries JR! Now...suppposing the mini cam I got on the floor (positioned up of course) goes and teeters upside down well now...THEN I got a problem!
