Last year when Yurune and I were in the AIS office, the girl was telling us how AIS could put two 1-2-call numbers on one single SIM card, and then when you turn on the phone, it would ask you which number you want to use. Switching between numbers is done by turning off and on the phone. No special phone or SIM holder necessary. Might be worth checking out.

Yes thats exactly what I mean,i heard theres some existing but wasnt sure.Means your phone can hold both sim cards at the same time and you can switch to whichever one you want to use by the combination of key strokes or something. JINGJO why dont do international roaming? Is there something I havent heard of?what problems can I have?I am on the 3G network.Last time I was in bangkok and had international roaming I didnt have a problem so im rather curious.

Some phones, notably Nokia, also support 2 separate lines, at the same time. Ideally what I am looking for on one of my next trips, is some hack at MBK to reprogram a SIM card for me to hold both my US SIM information, and my AIS information - then I can have both numbers in my phone, and receive calls on both (you select which line gets preference for outgoing calls).

Roaming works, but it's too expensive. Local rates are so low that it pays to buy a Thai simcard. Your phone has to be unlocked though.

DrLove yes I agree about the expense of roaming,i get charged the international part of the call even if a friend from home calls my number, but unfortunately for business purposes it would be handy to have the capabality of something like a dual sim card. Was just a thought is all about if it could be done and exists.

Aussiemale263 "DrLove yes I agree about the expense of roaming,i get charged the international part of the call even if a friend from home calls my number," Don't you think this is fair? After all it is a long-distance call. Would be unfair to charge the person calling you, because they might not know you are in a land far away. Aussiemale263 "but unfortunately for business purposes it would be handy to have the capabality of something like a dual sim card. " For such purposes it is handy, yes. An alternative might possibly be a SkypeIn number, which you can divert to your local mobile number. Haven't looked into the exact costs of this, but might very well be cheaper than roaming. SkypeIn also includes an answering machine. SkypeIn info is available on http://www.skype.com
