Hats off to Hzink...
I use what Hzink suggested more or less down to a 'T' as nearly all my customers are in the US, and I can confirm that they do (the customers) 'sus' you out on weird timings for email replies, telephone calls etc. and several have asked where I am etc. (Thailand/Hong Kong to be precise).
However, the company (based in Chicago) I work for do not mind this one bit, in fact they think it is exactly what they like and appreciate the service I provide.
But a word of warning - You will turn into a night owl come Zombie after a while and it can be a bit soul destroying.
Regular RNR definitely a required element.

Interesting forum and I am glad someone has started it. I will be doing a 3 month trip to BKK in July, but will be working while there as well. I am a professional stock trader, and the U.S. market is open from 9:30 pm to 4 am in Bangkok. I traded those hours during my last trip and it worked okay, so I am going to give it a shot for a longer period of time in July.
I stayed at the CentrePoint and plugged my laptop into their ethernet last time, but it was painfully slow, around 128 kbps. So, this time I will be staying in a serviced apartment, and ordering DSL with private phone line through TRUE. By doing so, I can at least get 512/256 speed. I am looking at a place called The Victory, near the Victory Monument. The rates are very reasonable there, about 15k for studio and 24k for one bedroom.
Not doing the nightlife every night requires some discipline, or perhaps it just requires finding daytime spots to party. :-0

How did it work out for you in July? I'm a daytrader too and basically just tote my pc around and trade from wherever I am - must admit that the hours that trading is open while in BKK is a bit painful (especially if you want to follow premarket) but still it allows you to be there and some days when the market stinks you can just close the pc and go find a party! I did this for a few months at the beginning of the year and it worked out great!
