No, you dial a local call so all what you have to do is check the rate for your hotel's local calls.
Furthermore there may be a limit to the length of your call before it cuts off ...
You can use any telephone line. But remember, if the line goes through a hotel PABX, the speed of the connection will drop (as low as 28.8k).
Connections with JI rarely break off (from my direct telephone line that is).
Just dial 9,02 ... ....

Thanks for the replies so you pay Ji to get on the net about 10 baht an hour and then also the local phone rate to the hotel on top of that how much is the local phone rate normally for bangkok. ??.

If you have a direct line, it is 3 B per call. Some apartments may charge you different rates.
Hotel phone rates are terrible, as they will charge you by the minute. You could easily chalk up hundreds of baht per hour.
Some hotels have ADSL connection in the rooms, and they charge a daily rate, e.g. Conrad is about 600 B/day.

The rate for a local call to BKK is something that is worth checking out BEFORE you finalize your hotel plans. Some hotels change the billing to the guest to a per-minute rate, while others simply add a few baht and charge that no matter how long the call. The last place I stayed was 7 baht per call to BKK, no matter how long the call.
This second option if the best if you are going to be online.
I just use the Loxinfo pack (189 baht for 20 hrs, I think) available in many places throughout BKK.

If I have a direct line (thats a line where I dont have to press a number to dial out of the hotel or apartment right ??) I only pay a small fee 3 baht for example. for the connection and after that there are no minute fee ??
And then I only pay to JI for the time I use.
Guess I am almost only confirming what U answered.
So I guess I need a direct line to make this worth while.
So you surfe the net for about 10 and hour right.
You know if its is easy to find places that have direct lines or are that mostly the exspensive places I will pay about 20.000 a month if they have the sportschannels before I have stayed at Boss Tower but dont think that phone line will work I had to press 0 to dial out from there.
All I need is Supersport Gold , ESPN , Starsports and a direct phone line I guess then I am set.
Sorry getting a bit of the topic I know

Not necessarily. ... wherever you stay (hotel, apartment, etc.) will charge differently. You need to call them to find out what the charge for a local call will be.
It is unrelated to whether you have to dial 9 or 0 to get out. I have stayed in a apartment where I did not have to dial 9 or 0 to get an outside line, yet I was charged per minute for calls to Bangkok. Where I stay in BKK, I need to dial 9 to get an outside line, yet I am charged 7 baht PER CALL, no matter how long the call. I have been online for 8 hours straight, and it was 7 baht by the hotel for the phone call. Check it out with the hotel or apartment.

Ji charges around THB 450 for 88 hours, so around 5 baht per hour. Don't buy it at convenience stores (7-11 etc), but buy it at Pantip or any IT related department store ...
Then again, there are hotels who provide free local calls.
As CG and BK said, check out telephone rates FIRST.

Like DrLove says, get your Internet Packs from Panthip. Much cheaper!
JI-NET has a fairly new package, called "Shark Byte". It gives you unlimited access for 15 days, retails at 179 B (or 150 B at Panthip). One caveat though, you need to have a TOT line.

I had a Anet unlimted in my internetcafe I thought it was the best one. But now I can not go under adsl speed. Some internet cafes let you connetc the laptop to the LAN for easy download of updates and stuff
