I have not been in Thailand for 2 months. My Thai number has just been disconnected by AIS because of no recharge or activity since it's expiry 1 month ago. No reconnection is possible. The number cannot be re-activated. A real pain having to tell everybody a new thai mobile number.

f*** AIS. They are useless. I will sign up with DTAC or True next week. But what do they care when the PM owns it.

Yurune,

Your SIM card and pertaining IMSI was released before the 90 days disconnection period was put in place. Any SIM card purchased recently (less than a year ago) would work as I explained.

I understand that all operators are even trying to shorten the periods as they need to reallocate numbers and do not intend to keep in their databased subscribers that are not active.

Cheers

On thing I have never done is get an account, as opposed to a pay as you go.

What are the cost differences as pay as you go is actually quite pricey.....5B per minute I think I pay.

Of course when dialling internationally if you dial 007 as opposed to 001 it is suprising howcheap it is to 'phone home'

The prefix for a special international rate used to be 009 didn't it? So to get the lowest international rate when calling from Thailand to, say for example, the UK it's 00744............. Is that right?

Thanks

yes

I've also heard 009 is cheap, don't know the difference, but my mate who knows every bargain in town says 007, and I trust his powers of sniffing out a bargain...

At this time, the following countries are 6 baht/min (+ tax) when you dial 009 + number. Yes TT, to call the UK would be 00944. USA is 0091.

Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, USA, United Kingdom

I use this all the time. They say the quality is not quite as good as 001, but I do not notice a difference. I experience no delay or echo.

Excuse my ignorance but can you dial 007 using any Thai simcard or is that limited to one supplier?
Thanks

001, 007, 008 and 009 can be used from the "big three" (AIS, DTAC and Orange) and will have the same pricing.
