You may find that Apple's iWork (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) to do a better job at opening the docx files, and particularly in also saving files back as docx files that can be read on a PC -- so far, Office 2008 has a 50% failure rate at writing a docx that can be read equally on the PC side.

130 Baht is about what Office 2008 is realistically worth

Do they know where he moved to?

Maybe I'd hire him

DaffyDuck: "Do they know where he moved to?"

If I had that information, I would have posted it.

I will keep going back to the shop. Who knows, maybe the staff will eventually give me his contact details. I'm sure they have them.

One of the former techs from Uficom (iStudio) now has his own (very small) shop called "M-Service". It's located at the back of the "M" (mezanine?) floor.

By the way, if you want to run Mac OS X and not buy a Mac, then install it onto your PC. Here's how it's done.

I have Mac OS X Leopard running fine (there are some glitches) on my PC laptop, but I would not recommend this for the faint hearted.

Except to spend some hours fiddling around with different kernels and driver tweaking.

I would, however, recommend this as an alternative to buying a Mac Pro (expensive!), but do some research to find compatible hardware.

What sort of price difference are we looking at?

Exactly - seeing as how Mac pros offer 8-core configurations with dual Quad-Core Xeon processors, comparisons to 'commodity' PC hardware will be lagging...
