I think 3 Baht is right with all operators for national SMS - but international are different from provider to provider I think - it is not the same price (but international means any country outside of thailand though as far as I know - no matter if india or US) you should just chek the tariff sections of the individual provider (links have been posted in this thread) cheers cyber

I've used Orange before. However, I go to Thailand only like once in every quarter or so. Is there a prepaid service that allows reload overseas either by using a reload card or credit card?

Can someone provide me with an update whether 12Call or Orange is a better choice at this time? Will only be in Bagkok for at most a week. Likely to return once every 3 months.

If you want to keep the same number when you come back, you need to be concerned with expiration dates. In general, each time you top up, it extends your expiration date. If you don't care about this, you can buy a new SIM card when you come again. Many times at MBK, you can buy one that has as much (or more) credit on it as what you pay, making the cost of the new SIM card very small. There is a pretty lenghy discussion on rates in this thread: http://bkkx.com/cgi-bin/forum/topic.cgi?forum=29&topic=10 Personally, I use 1-2-call and am in their Freedom Plus program (2 or 2.5 baht per minute). But the phone I use is dual band (900mhz and 1900mhz) so I cannot use DTAC or Orange (1800mhz). And I have had the number for a long time. Offhand, I think for raw call cost (if your calls are more than a minute), Orange might be cheapest. Again, take a look at the other thread for more info.

If you stay in Bangkok, Orange is the best solution. Sim card THB 199, THB 350 free calls (50 baht if you only use the card for one month). THB 1 per minute after THB 3 for the first minute.
