I use the DTAC Simple promotion as well but they informed me that the promotion is ending this month. One thing I noticed is that the rates are ridiculous for this plan. I was refilling every few days with moderate text and voice usage. So what I did was I switched to one of the cheaper plans, I think it cost around 50 baht, then switched back to Simple toward the end of my trip. What a huge difference that made, I couldn't believe how long the refills were lasting.

What is the name of One-2-Call's promotion that gives a one year validity period?

As far as I know, the AIS one-year thing is not part of a promotion at all, it's just their general policy. I've never signed up for any promotion with them, and my balance has been showing a "good until date" of one year from whenever I charge up for years now.

I used one-two call for several years and what is interesting is that the expiration date for my load seems to move a month later whenever I reach the end of the validity period. For example I had a load expiring at the end of March but when I got to BKK I checked and it then said the 24th of April. The best thing to do is to get a few 100 Bt top-ups and enable international roaming on your account. Then you can monitor your account and top-up before they reclaim your number (which is 21 days after your balance expires or drops to zero). It has cost me about 400 bt a year to keep my number active. One other thing, I have noticed that sometimes when I top up before the load expires they will roll over the remaining balance to the new expiration date.... but not always...

@China Sailor: interesting. but everyone do take note: 1-2 Call Int'l Roaming is DAMN expensive...I used it in Cambodia (Phnom Penh) once. Someone from a Thai number called ME, and the resulting 3-4 minute call sucked some 200+ baht out of my balance!!! Also, now even when you stand near the Mekong in Vientiane (and thus have a strong Thai cellphone signal), by default the 1-2 Int'l Roaming kicks in via the Lao signal; to get the straight signal from Thailand you have to "choose provider manually" on your phone...

Here is something interesting for One-2-Call SIM card owners. If you have some spare credits left, and if you card is about to expire, you can extend it for another 30 days for only 30 baht deducted from your existing credit, but entering the following code: *500*9#

Sheikh, I'm not sure if it'll work, but you could give it a try. I won't be traveling in the next couple of months so I won't be able to try this out.
