when I bought my MacBook Pro it was supplied with Apple Remote, a iPod-Shuffle look alike accessory that allows you to control Front Row which turns the Mac into a portable entertainment system. I haven't used it much but lately I was looking at enhance it and come across a couple of intriguing accessories.

1. TUNEWEAR a red and white TuneRemote in a fashionable leather case for the Apple Remote that includes a removable, swiveling, metal clip for attaching your Remote to a bag or clothing.

2. REMOTE BUDDY a one stop interface application that allows your Apple Remote to control system volume, iTunes playback, iPhoto slideshows, and even Keynote presentations and much more. Just watch the demo video which shows what the application can do in conjunction with Apple Remote.

That SIK looks pretty slick! But I wonder if that infrared 30 ft. direct line of sight could embarrass a good presentation. Would the Salling Ciicker 30 ft Bluetooth range be less inclined to do so? Just speculation...

Daffy - About making-sense-of-the-Thai-keyboard. Here are two great resources: A.U.A-Mostly Writing and A.U.A-Mostly Reading I highly recommend their use in company with a skilled Thai instructor

So how much is this baby costing nowadays?

It all depends. Which processor, how much RAM, which HDD, and in what market you buy it, all factor into the equation. Start your shopping here: Select your MacBook Pro

PS- Hold on! If you're seriously thinking of buying right now I wouldn't recommend it unless it's absolutely neccessary. Why? Because the June WWDC is not that far away and it's all but a given that Leopard will be released during the event along with some serious hardware bumps.

mate, there's nothing better than the real thing. get a long-haired dictionary with you, they'll love the Mac with dual Eng-Th keyboard and language set apps. Forget the books or educational CDs, just lay in bed with your latest mia noi typing away on your Mac, and take things from there. Trust me on this one

all big, successful companies have legal troubles, fighting lawsuits, brought mostly over intellectual rights, patent infringements etc.. Apple is no stranger to that and they have to fend off their fair share of legal problems. It's a cost of doing business in this increasing litigious society we live in.

Having said, the vast majority of the lawsuits are inter-company but the latest one was brought by Apple's own shareholders. The stock option backdating scandal has been rumbling for yonks. There's nothing illegal about backdating options, as long as it is disclosed to shareholders and industry regulators. Some of the shareholders seemed hell bent in causing maximum discomfort for Steve and gang.

Quite strange behaviour; since Steve Jobs came back to Apple shares were around 7 bucks but now they've overgrown 1,700 x cent. These guys should be kissing his hand not kicking his arse.

yes but with a notable proviso: *Pairing with Apple computers not supported*

Unlike the Apple Remote, you can’t pair the Rex with your MacBook Pro. Pairing the Apple Remote with a particular Mac means the remote can’t be used to control another Macs.

Following my post on EMI offering DRM tracks, I've found a nifty way to locate songs in my computer that I can upgrade to high quality DRM free version. Go to application / utilities / terminal command and type the following:

dfind -onlyin ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music “kMDItemCopyright == ‘*Emi*’ kMDItemCodecs == ‘*protected*’ ” > ~/Desktop/myEMI.txt

.... and hey presto I found several candidates, in my iTunes library, for upgrading in this coming May.

VMware has released Fusion Beta 3, the latest version of the company’s virtualization software for the Mac. They claim that new beta includes many speed improvements over its predecessor. Anyone has experience of this app?
