Back to Apple; Daffy; what's Technology Research's Shawn Wu prediction of the AAPL stock target price ? Tried Googling but couldn't get hold of it.
Weird, Google seems to fail me as well. Last I checked, Shawn Wu gave a revised estimate of $210.

As someone who was employed as an investment analyst for many years I find the comments here quite amusing. Investment analysts are rarely 'morons' - it is a competitive business and it is hard to earn several million dollars a year as an imbecile.
The role of an analyst is not to be 'right' but to generate business for your brokerage or investment banking division. It doesnt do much good to tell people that internet stocks are way overvalued if that is where the action is.
I certainly dont know many investment analysts reduced to selling second hand iphones over the internet.....

This is an excerpt from a CNN International story on the launch of Qtrax (a Music sharing site) :
Last fall, the company (Apple) issued a software update for its iPhones that created problems for units modified by owners so they would work with a cellular carrier other than AT&T Inc. As a result, some modified phones ceased to work after the software update.
The move prompted antitrust lawsuits on behalf of some consumers
Aside from the italicized words I inserted for clarity sake this quote is exact and stands alone as you see it. It was not extracted out of context.
So I wonder how much cash this will end up costing Apple...

Not biased at all, right. Considering those with a track record of bad analysis, I'd disagree. Sure, you may call them other words, I tend to call a spade a spade.

Bad analogy - it appears that there are, sadly, plenty of imbeciles in this world earning millions of dollars a year with ease. The ability to generate and earn large amounts of $$$ does not necessarily stand in any direct relation to a person's level of intelligence -- it merely reflects particular specialization.

Well another case of not reading the quote before you respond.
Lets see..... Apple is required to answer the suits or they will find in the favor of the claimants. This means lawyers (even if employed by Apple) get involved. There is also research, documents to be filed, expert witnesses to pay for, appeals to be made, and all of the associated crap that goes along with a legal suit. Then of course there are the local lawyers who will have to 'represent' Apple in the states where the Apple corporate lawyers are not members of the state bar.
Now even assuming they win, it will cost them money that they would not have had to spend if they were not involved in the legal suits.
So I ask again ----READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU REPLY DUCK---- I wonder how much it will cost Apple.
BTW: For those who assume that the plaintiffs will have to pay Apple's legal costs, in 20 years of spurious law suits (as determined by Federal Courts) Phillip Morris has spent several hundred million dollars in legal expenses and has been awarded nothing to cover their costs...

As someone who used to look down at investment analysts (as a needed nuisance) in the food chain of Investment Banking... I do agree with what you said in your post. Nevermind that those in Corporate Finance (generally) made more money that investment analysts... and deservedly so....

Well, consider that Meteorologists at least occasionally look out a window, and are able to accurately tell you the condition of the weather right at that given time - a comparable feat appears not within reach of most of these investment analysts -- yet, they still appear safe in their employment.
You're right - safer bet. Sadly, a career path that I would not be qualified for, though.
