Unrealistic, at best -- idiotic, at worst.

Couldn't agree more...

Could a larger marketshare bring some unwanted side-effects to Apple too? Check http://blogs.oreilly.com/digitalmedia/2008/01/feeling-sorry.html for an example...

Now is the time to short US $s' vs
Japanese Yen - reckon we'll soon be seeing
US $ 1 = 100 Japanese yen.

Will not be the first time. When I was stationed there in the 80's it was hovering between 105 and 98 to the dollar. Going short is sort of like playing the slots, pick a winning machine you go home happy tho in the end the 'House' will always get its percentage...

Should've bought Yahoo, MSFT making a cash/share bid for $31 which is a 62% premium market.

Yahoo up $8.75...

Good point, though it's been my experience that the number of sheeple on the customer side hasn't really varied over the past 20 years - though the number of 'competent' support employees at Apple Stores has started to skew into the 'less than' portion of the curve... but that's mostly related to two factors:

- with ever expanding numbers of Apple store, it's hard to find good quality staff.
- qualified people would not work for the kind of compensation an Apple store pays.

On the other hand, if you strike up a relationship with Apple store managers, you can pretty much get a very healthy stream of recommendations and clients sent your way, if you are in the Mac business.

With the expanding numbers of iStores across Bangkok and Thailand, I can see that as a good sign for a similar venture, if one were so inclined.

Pardon me whilst I steer this thread back to the iPhone.....

In the course of a normal discussion of Apple products, so much attention focuses on the 'it-just-works-so-damned-well!' GUI that, more times than naught, the superbly engineered hardware too often goes ignored.

And yet, your average Apple devotee/experienced user knows both are unparalleled. Said another way, these here iPhones are some tough mutha f***ahs!

Behold the proof:
My iPhone [still works!] after a semi ran over it!

Like I said- Amazing design!

Pardon me while I steer it away, again

About that Microsoft / Yahoo merger that Steve Ballmer wants to force:

"Ballmer said he loved when his rivals merged, because whenever the also-rans in any market start teaming up they might as well be waving a white flag. Because it's over. You've beaten them. You've driven them to despair. They haven't been able to beat you on their own; there's no way they'll do it together." -(as overheard from) Steve Ballmer

'nuff said.

No matter what you think of the MSFT attempt to buy YHOO it will be entertaining to watch. According to CNN the battle lines are being drawn in the Silicon Valley and there is blood to be shed.

Some say that MSFT must be stopped to keep it from taking over the Internet. Others say that MSFT must be successful to keep GOOG from taking over the Internet.

Personally I do not believe that either case 'washes' although it is going to be an interesting 'catfight'...
