Yeah, I was using it at Island's, actually - I have a tendency to hit the 'c' and 'v' keys instead of the spacebar, when it's flat on a table, versus held by my grubby hands.

Hey, check it out - more deets on the Sony Experia -- as suspected,it runs Windows Mobile 6.1, and is announced to ship with just 128mb of RAM -- good old SONY, making sure they save money where it counts, the storage, and thus it will face quite some performance problems. I'm sure it has some kind of SD slot, but that memory won't be used for the OS, which is where it will be needed.

That's unfortunate. Well, at least no Experia users will be spouting off about how much more memory they have...

Well went shopping last night. Electtronics shopping is always so disappointing in LOS. I keep on asking myself why waste my time.

Headed over to B&O and their handsfree was 12,800 THB.

The Jawbone handsfree that Daffy is promoting and getting rave reviews from the industry seemed to be elusive in LOS. It is just as well, probably more expensive here than in the USA.

I am headed to the USA in a few weeks and plan on buying of the two above probably a lot cheaper.

Stopped by the Apple store. They had the new 32G iTouch available, but it was $85.00 more than in the USA plus the nice new coverflow viewing would only remind me how many MP3 that I need to update with album pics, correct titles and lyrics. So I think I will wait until summer when this update project will be done and hopefully prices will come down again.

Lastly, SONY Experia phone does not look like it will be here for a while so I will just wait for that as well.

I would advise others to do all your electronic hardware shopping elsewhere. LOS is still good for software both in electronics and in your bedroom.

I saw jawbones all over the 4th floor at MBK. You can get them in the US for about $70.

Awesome vibrating action

On another tangent, just to contrast how some of the 'competitors' are handling their technology, and their customer support - let's take a look at the HTC Touch, and the series of HTC mobiles. While featuring a kick ass ATOI chipset for video drivers, the devices had been plagued from the launch with sub-par video performance -- because HTC failed to provide any video drivers to take advantage of the chip they touted using.

This led to rather verbal request by their user base, to the point of getting public attention -- HTC's answer, at the time : "Future products will include video acceleration, and users needing this feature should upgrade to future products, when they are available." Needless to say, end-users were not too pleased, to the point of pooling money, and offering a prize to whoever can hack their devices with new drivers (seeing as how this is all really just software we are talking about).

Today, HTC announced an upcoming fix to "improve performance of common on-screen tasks", but stresses that this will not be a video driver upgrade, and essentially that no video driver upgrade is forthcoming.

Heck, the official statement, in their own words, is a joy to read - if only to consider that it is scary that this kind of statement can be released, officially, by that type of company - so, those of you swearing by your HTC products, enjoy the company you keep :

----
Some of our top engineers have investigated video performance on our devices and have discovered a fix that they claim will dramatically improve performance for common on-screen tasks like scrolling and the like. Their fix would help most of our recent touch-screen products including the Touch family of devices and TYTN II / Tilt, Mogul / XV6900. The update is in testing and we hope to release it soon. However this fix is not a new video driver to utilize hardware acceleration; it is a software optimization. Video drivers are a much more complicated issue that involves companies and engineers beyond HTC alone. We do not want to lead anyone to believe they should expect these. To explain why we are not releasing video acceleration instead of the optimization I offer you our official statement...

"HTC DOES plan to offer software upgrades that will increase feature functionality, over the air wireless speeds and other enhancements for some of the phones being criticized, but we do not anticipate including any additional support for the video acceleration issues cited in customer complaints. It is important for customers to understand that bringing this functionality to market is not a trivial driver update and requires extensive software development and time. HTC will utilize hardware video acceleration like the ATI Imageon in many upcoming products.

Our users have made it clear that they expect our products to offer an improved visual experience, and we have included this feedback into planning and development of future products. To address lingering questions about HTC's current MSM 7xxx devices, it is important to establish that a chipset like an MSM7xxx is a platform with a vast multitude of features that enable a wide range of devices with varied functionality. It is common that devices built on platforms like Qualcomm's will not enable every feature or function.

In addition to making sure the required hardware is present, unlocking extended capabilities of chipsets like the MSM 7xxx requires in-depth and time consuming software development, complicated licensing negotiations, potential intellectual property negotiations, added licensing fees, and in the case of devices that are sold through operators, the desire of the operator to include the additional functionality.

To make an informed decision about which handset suits them best, consumers should look at the product specification itself instead of using the underlying chipset specifications to define what the product could potentially become."

Actually I just purchased an iPhone, (don't jump up and down too much Duckie) the real deal one from Cisco Systems. Works great as a standard Cordless phone using a phone line & as a Skype Phone (direct to the Broadband Router) without having to be connected to a Computer!

Oh, right -- that one. Nice little phone from Cisco. Nice story of incompetence behind that name, and how they lost it.

Oh, and there might some cool new iPhone goodness coming down from Cupertino as early as tomorrow, in the form of an SBK to allow third-party applications to be developed.

Meizu M8 - some folks on this thread have been claiming to have been using a Meizu M8, iPhone clone phone, in comparison to the iPhone.

This seems odd, considering that the Meizu won't be shipping until August.. so, unless said claimants have a time machine... ???
