Oh? RIM makes $100 and less smartphones? More power to them. ..because that's what the China and India market are, for the next 5-6 years... (acknowledging that it's growing, and represents a significant *potential* growth potential, but not in the short term -- why does this matter? RIM and most other companies are short term driven; Apple is extremely long-term driven).

you really think the first phone a chinese or indian villager will buy is an iphone? even if its only $100? nokia has this market to start with for sure, with their cheaper retro basic models, introductory ones i just cant see 1billion chinese loving the i-phone certainly not the japs anyway, they know a phone is a thing to be used efficiently, not just a convoluted music player with fancy screen and maps

I usually enjoy reading most of your stuff on this group, but the prior and the above statements in your argument are very weak and, IMHO, useless drivel. Obviously, both comments seemed to have been made on your part solely to counter an argument, not to make any relevant intellectual contributions (especially the later one, which seems like a personal problem you seem to have with people who are lucky enough to be 'pampered'...) I personally am glad that there are people who are as pampered, working on exciting new technology. There are many good arguments to support the iPhone and the ones you posted neither reflected good on your, nor on the platform. Let's try to stay with useful and relevant facts in the future.

Your argument was made as if to imply that software companies have abandoned the iPhone platform in droves (implying software companies developed for it previously, and that less do so now). Alright, then, here's the facts: Software companies developing for the iPhone last year : 3 Software companies developing for the iPhone this year : 5,000 Software companies wanting to develop for the iPhone this year: 25,000 (number of applications, of which Apple only approved a fraction of). So?

I have heard, though, that these numbers need to be in magnetic ink, which precious few laserwriters handle. So, what is the real scoop on this subject?
