er NO so you think you can turn a 2G phone into a 3G phone just from a software update? it doesnt work like that and yes, actually blackberry and rim update all their software too - everytime you connect to your bberry desktop manager you can backup. restore, update, syncronise etc etc even add and delete new programs you use the usb cable, exactly the same way that you update your iphone so you could say that apple stole that idea too! hahahha

Isn't that except for the "unlocked" phones which iTunes will brick? Sorry, I wandered off the "last 25" forum summary. I'll try to keep current with that forum view.

THAT is why this conversation should be over - because you neither pay attention, nor bother performing the absolute minimum of research (and I use the term lightly). I made a distinction between 'iPhone 2.0' software (the operating system of the iPhone), and '3G iPhone' - pretty much any fool can figure out that, obviously, 3G features are provided by hardware differences. The 3G iPhone runs the exact same 'iPhone 2.0' software version that will install on the first generation iPhone, giving it the exact same software and feature sets as the 3G iPhone sports (minus, obviously, those aided by the specific hardware improvements). Hence, the same updated software, Exchange capabilities, MobileMe capabilities, improved GPS integration features (minus A-GPS, which is hardware based, albeit WITH the ability to show moving location), the ability to accept third party apps, etc, etc... Sure BlackBerry/RIM update their software - but not as significantly or extensively as Apple is about to do with the version 1.x to 2.x upgrade and features. Never seen a Blackberry add anything that weren't incremental bug fixes, or minor changes - everything else required buying a new BBerry. As for ErikE - I'm sorry, you must live in a different dimension, or in a cave, or something -- none of your arguments that you claim for Apple, make any sense. I'm afraid I'm going to need you to substantiate your claims a bit more.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_26/b4090000134565.htm?chan=technology_technology+index+page_top+stories I'm sorry, snpark, I am not going to extend an effort and waste my time, to correct what your parents, and your formative educational system, has failed to do. Maybe you are simple too limited to take part in a conversation, and need everything spelled out for you; maybe Apple products are truly only for a small, intellectual elite - in which case, clearly they are not for you and you should stick with your device of choice, and I'll be very happy to call myself a member of such an elite group of people which are obviously not lacking an education. Like I said earlier "This conversation is over", and I should have stuck with that original statement. I will now.

it is only over because a) you cant answer the question and b) you wont admit you are wrong and yes, if iphones are only for the elite then how do you expect to sell so many? you are the only person on this forum that loves them as much as thai pussy, you are so stubborn that you wont admit or accept even the slightest flaw in your miracle device so please answer the questions or have I finally got you to shut up about your silly i-phone ok answer this question - you have a first generation i-phone? so what are you going to do now - buy a 3G one or "update your software" assuming you didnt get yours from mbk in the first place

Never fails - good for a laugh. http://www.tuaw.com/2008/06/18/survey-91-of-japanese-dont-want-an-iphone/ Every time Apple forges forward into a new market, there's invariably someone soliciting a survey to prove how disastrous such a move would be, or how no one wants it. Such was the case for Apple Stores ("The computer store concept has been proven not to work, by Gateway..."), the iPod ("entering the packed market of MP3 players will be Apple's undoing"), the iPhone ("a $600 phone, unsubsidized - who would want it?"), and now here's a survey of Japanese, 'proving' how 91% of them simply do not want an iPhone. At all. Ever. It was an 'internet survey', it was conducted before pricing was known, and it conveniently ignores a survey a year earlier (by, oddly, a different survey company) that showed that 40% of respondents were interested in purchasing an iPhone. The issue, as I see it here, might have to do with Softbank as the selected carrier, as they don't seem very popular AND do not hold any significant marketshare. We'll see how things pan out. As for Thailand, I have increasing hopes that AIS might not end up getting iPhone -- not only do they suck as a carrier, but DTAC is both the better carrier, but also will have the infrastructure (as in REAL infrastructure to support it). It would be nice to see iPhones sold legitimately in MBK.
